Mesh problems

Body:

Help, advise, incouragement, anythng. Here's my story, I had a cystocele/rectalcele in Jan 06. For the past 2 years my husband and I have suffered thru painful dysfuctional sex, time after time. I'm so depressed about ever having the surgery and agreeing to the mesh. Seeing my physicians did not help, my uro told me we needed to stretch things back out, the pain was in my head. My gyn didn't see any problems, also told me to get a taper candle and stretch. Well guess what? I saw a new gyn and she said that the mess inside my vaginal area has created like a shelf about a third of an inch deep about half way up. Now what you have to understand here, is that is what I have been saying to my physicians since 2 months after surgery. It never felt right. Now my new gyn is telling me this may be a really messy fix, if they can fix it. So I'm 47 yrs old and should plan on not having a sex life for the rest of my life...

i am so sorry you are going through this. is there any way they can remove the mesh, and you can go back to your old self???

I'm sooo very sorry you are going through this. That isn't right. There is nothing I can say to really help your situation. But, I will be thinking of you and hoping that by some miracle a "fix" is possible. I can only imagine your grief right now. No woman should have to think of no sex life at any stage of life, but to hear you say it at your young age...((((hugs))))

So sorry to hear that-if it was me, I wouldn't give up...I would seek out other opinions...I hope you can find a solution that works for you.

I am very sorry this happened to you and hope there is a way to fix this and possibly remove the mesh.
I found this today: http://theladyisachamp.blogspot.com/
Please don’t give up. I’ll pray for you, (((hugs))).

Thank all of you for your comments and prayers. I truly need them. I have two appointments set up for the middle of March to get some other opinions on my problem. But I would like to say any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks again for your kindness.

Oh man I almost had this surgery because of the painful sex that I have had for the last year. But I know that is not going to solve the problem and in fact will make it worse.

I have several prolapses also. I did hours of research on painful sex.

I believe I have what is called vaginismus. Vaginismus is not only something new brides get. ( that is called primary vaginismus) What I think I have is secondary vaginismus. I will be able to tell you all if that is what I have after I follow the infor given here on this site.
So any of you having painful sex and are around menopause, please please checkout these two sites before you have any surgery.
