Liquid fibre

Body:

Dear Friends,

This is Reka here, I have just changed my name because I was freaking out that people would recognise me from other places on the net.

I am sorry that I have not been around for a year and a half or so. The reason is that I am very well and I do not think much about my (considerable) prolapses. And with two small children and a part-time job I do not have much time, either. One day I will sure write down my personal story because when I first came here all I wanted to see were success stories...

Anyway, I m here because I have a problem (typical...). I am having surgery tomorrow to remove two of my wisdom teeth. They do not have a space to come out and are pushing out my healthy other teeth from the gum. Although, understandably, I am very weary of medical intervention here I agree with the doctor. I have been going through the papers they gave me and they recommend that I stack up on ice-cream because I will not be able to eat anything else for a few days. Now, I have a very good idea of how my rectocele would react for a diet of ice-cream!!!

I know nothing much of diets, but I eat now lots of healthy fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans and avoid animal protein (although I can have a bit of cheese or yogurt without any problems). My question is (and it might sound stupid): if I blend vegetables and fruits will I still get the benefits fibre-wise? Or should I blend in something else (like crushed linseed) for best result?
Any ideas are welcome, I am quite scared - and not of the surgery but what it will do to my prolapses...

Many thanks,
Reka

welcome back!!!

i would think that if you drink tons and eat lots of liquified food / soup, you won't get constipated as bulk isn't going in.
what about stewed fruit? stew plums and then blend them?
can you get vegie juices? not much fibre, but super fab for you...
also, i used to make a raw soup in the blender that was something like raw sweet potato, greens, avocado, and an apple all in the blender with some liquid
it was really yummy-and full of fibre

good luckw ith your surgery and i'm sure you'll recover faster than you think!

The raw soup sounds wonderful. I will eat that every day!
I was just really worried that if the blender breaks down the fibre particles then it does not work any more - but your post suggests that that is not the case. Great!
Thanks again!

if your recovery is anything like mine make sure you have someone who can help....or if possible make these mixtures ahead of time otherwise you might settle for whatever you can get your hands on quickly and then cause other issues.
If your teeth are already coming down you probaly wont have as hard of a time recovering as i did but better to be safe than sorry .....dont underestimate the surgery ....youwill need lots of rest and someone to help with the kids....my surgeon told me i could take care of my son fine within a week...that was not the case it took me atleast 3 weeks before i could manage without help just because i was in so much pain(dry socket). I had to take muscle relaxers so i could go to sleep and they made be groggy and out of it all day...everyone i know said it was no big deal you would be fine in a couple days but my teeth were way up in my sinus cavity so that was the difference im guessing...most people dont have any trouble though...lucky them i just wish someone would have warned me that its not always a walk in the park!

well I hope this is better late than never.....as soon as you can get off the meds do it- reduce your dosage by the second day and take motrin instead- you will probably need the stronger stuff to sleep at night- but the light stuff can get you through the day. You can let your Dr. know that you are having constipation from them and you can be prescribed a different type of pain killer that would be less likely to cause constipation.
I remember when I had mine out I just ate Popsicles all day the first two days- that seemed to help me- and I just slept all day the first two days- by the third day I was off the meds totally- and by the end of the week I was able to get around fine-
take care of yourself.
