Sponges, again

Body:

Hi everyone. It's me again about the sponges. Thanks, Nancy, for the info. I tried everything again regarding insertion of the sponges. No problem getting one inserted; however, I really think my problem is that my prolapse is severe enough that it just simply wants to push the sponge out - same as it did with commercial pessaries - and remains uncomfortable. It feels, when touching, like the prolapse is just too big for the sponge and protrudes around it and doesn't really do much good. Christine, if you have any input, I'd welcome it, but maybe I'll just have to be content to continue the postures and walking and yoga and forget about sponges. I have never had any surgeries (thank God) so should have all my "stuff" even though it's falling down.

You may want to try the v-brace. I wear it when I have to really become physical with about anything I do - more for added support. The falling out feeling is not there.

Sybille

Thanks, Sybille, for the V Brace suggestion. Where do I get one??

Sharon, I just typed a long reply but lost it somehow so I'll try it again! Don't give up on the sponges yet! I didn't want to share this idea yet because I myself haven't been doing it long enough to see if it works, but it won't hurt to try it yourself. Get into a different position to insert, on your knees and hand, and with other hand not on floor because it has to be clean and have the sponge. Try inserting in this position. It has worked for me for 3 days now. You can easily put it over the pubic bone and falls into place perfectly for me. And I can understand that no two women are alike but maybe if the sponge shape was longer than fat (longer works for me) that might work for you better. Only cut a little at a time. Try these and let me know. It seems the cystocele just falls completely out of the way for me. Also, I think we are the same age, 61, so being dry might also contribute to the sponge not staying in, and Mare told me that VA works for her and I started it and its working for me also now. I don't lubricate the sponge but clean them in peroxide about every 2-3 days. Good luck and keep me informed, Nancy

Hi Nancy. Seems that it works better for me to lie on my bed to insert the sponge as my prolapse doesn't press down so much in that position. I don't have any trouble getting it in, but there seems to be prolapse "parts" bulging out all around it when it is in and the bulging feeling does not go away. It's just more comfortable, even with the bulging feeling, to do without the sponge than with. I am trying the larger one that came in the order. It's sort of elongated and is probably around 4 inches or so long. The commercial pessaries that I formerly tried (that popped out easily) were the largest the GYN could get.

If you don't mind sharing, could you tell me a little about yourself? I know we're the same vintage and both have 3 kids, but where are you from, what do you do (or did you do) for a living, etc.

I'm a Michigan native who has lived in Cody, Wyoming for 3 years. It's so beautiful here, we just love it. However, access to some of the more "big city" ammenities is not here. Oh well, it's a trade off. I'm just so happy to have stumbled onto this site with so many super duper women and so many great suggestions for natural alternative therapy.

Thanks, again Nancy.

Nancy - sorry - I meant my reply to be directed only to you but am still getting the hang of this website/conference and am not sure how to reply privately.

Hi Sharon, I think I sent you a personal e-mail maybe last week! Hope you received it! If not, write me and I'll let you know more! Nancy

I think I'm having the same problem: the sponges seem to be pushing out. Has anyone out there tried an inflatable pessary?
My doctor recommended it.

Hi everyone, I also love the v-brace that Sybille talked about. You can get one at fembrace.com They are wonderful and take away that " falling out " feeling. In fact, I don't wear mine as much these days because of Christine's posture and exercises. They do work and I am feeling much better than I was last summer at this time. I have also tried the sponges and they don't work for me. I am 58 and they feel scratchy and they don't hold my prolapse up. Hope everyone has a great weekend, Ann

Thanks so much for contributing, Ann. Every woman who shares her success helps all the rest of us in this blessed project...

(((Love and Light))) to all here and above, that sent me to this site....I just ordered the book and am reading and reading all your replys, which gives me such great hope. I am 61 and am on my feet 7 days a week at least 8 hours a day. Guess gravity is getting the best of me. As I love my job in the plant business, I can not give it up, but needed a way to accomplish this. As I pray to my angels and guides for help, I believe they sent me here. I am really interested in the v brace, this may help those long hours of working and waiting on people. It does really grate on my nerves, and cant slip away to push that darn thing back up when I would like to :'(... So what I can tell from the picture it looks to hold you closed so you dont fall out? Would love to hear more from those using this product. LNL willowrain

Dear Willowrain,

Train your body toward natural female posture and rebuild the gravity-free design that is perfectly adapted to keep your pelvic organs in place. It will take time and patience at first, so eat well and REST as often as you can. Don't expect miracles, because the fascial envelope is stretched out like your favorite sweater, but do expect to become infinitely more comfortable and to stave off further pelvic collapse for the rest of your life, no matter how much time you spend on your feet.

Wishing you well,

Christine

p.s. also check out the V2 Supporter (http://www.birthjoy.com/shop.html), which you might find more comfortable than the other.

Dear Willowrain,
Christine is so right when she said it takes time and patience. But when you have a good day, you will strive for more. Just keep doing the posture and exercises, eat well, don't let yourself get constipated, don't lift heavy and before you know it you will have more good days than bad ones.
In the beginning of my cystocele, I was so scared and I thought nothing would help me until I came upon Christine and her site and began the posture and exercises with her book and tape.
I also bought the v-brace and the v2 supporter and they were like a
crutch for me in the beginning when I knew I would be on my feet all day. They just pushed up on everything and gave me a secure feeling because believe me, I was scared to death.........
Now, a year later, I can actually go for a day shopping, gardening, or helping a friend paint a room all day without my supports cause
the exercises and posture are working.....
A HUGE thank you to Christine for everything!!! Good Luck Willowrain and keep us posted on your progress.......Ann

Hello again, I forgot to say that I agree with you Christine that out of the 2 supports, the v2 supporter is more comfortable and easier to wear, but both are good.
Also, I was just in the background and not joining in on this forum ( I am shy and I guess I didn't think what I had to say was important) but I am so glad to join in now and tell my success story to all of you. I sure hope what I have to say will help someone who is scared like I was in the beginning. Have a great day everyone and keep you chin up.........Ann

Thank you all for your replies, I too will do anything to keep my insides where they belong, in me not in the trash can... I am waiting for Christines book and have ordered the V strap...You messages are keeping me going till I can read to get started. It is so great to know that I am not in this alone and there is someone like Christine taking us out of the dark ages...LNL willowrain

I also like the V2 supporter. Less material, lightweight and one forgets one has it on. I very seldom wear it as I am doing quite well without it. There are days I feel as if I don't have a problem. And that is a good feeling.

Sybille

Hi Sybille...ordered the v brace as that is the first I heard of any should be here probably tomorrow. I am on my feet 7 days a week and do alot of lifting at my nursery business. So I am thinking the v brace may give me extra support for what I do. May eventually get the other if I find the v a problem, what ever help is on the way;) LNL willowrain

I had started with the fembrace and wore it for a couple of years and once incorporating the posture, and learning about the V2 brace, I opted to buy the later and wear it occasionally - more for the emotional support, like if I am on a trip or something. Other than that, I just "wing" it and have been pleasantly surprised by feeling nothing. I think the butt squeezing helps. No kegals - just the butt tightening. Must be doing something. I am going on the second week not feeling the prolapses. That is the longest. Usually the rectocele will give me problems until I can sit and clear that.
Sybille

Hi Willowrain, I am glad to hear help is on the way. You will love either support, for they are both good ......With the way you work, I think you made the right choice and will find your job and "prolapse" much more comfortable. And then when you learn the posture and exercises you will be on your way to feeling much better..
Good Luck to you and keep us posted as to how you like the support.
Ann
