Red Clover and other things

Body:

I have managed to grow several Red Clover plants and I have been using the fresh flowers and leaves for making tea, but have not noticed any thing different I'm in my late sixties so wonder do I need it ?is it good for prolapse and tissue health? I have noticed since stopping my Pelvic muscle Toner I have felt my prolapse more so have started using it again .My Physio said I didn't need it or to see her again but will ring her. She also said I could try Estrogen cream but I have noticed on here it says it could cause Cancer. One last thing is water good for muscles I have been drinking a pint each day. Would appreciate your replies

Hi Fifi

Its hard to say whether or not you are having enough red clover to make a difference to your tissues. I have about a pint of quite strong red clover tea each day. When I discard the soggy bits that are left there is about 3/4 cup of plant material, so it is quite a bit. You would need to have quite a few plants growing, and I do know that the phytoestrogen levels do vary quite a bit during the growing season, coming to a maximum just as flowering commences, and dropping off to almost nothing when it has dried off after flowering. It is the leaves and stems that have most phytoestrogens, not the flowers, as far as I can tell, but I am not the ultimate authority!

I have found that it has improved my dermatitis considerably, and DH says my skin is much softer, and my vagina is not so dry. I am 2 1/2 years past end of menstruation, and 58 years old.

Water is good for your whole body. Your pint a day, along with water in your food is good. If you drink fluids other than water, eg sugary drinks or drinks containing caffeine, you will either be getting too much sugar, which is empty calories, or loading up with caffeine which will further increase your requirement for water. So water is the best thing to drink overall. If you mostly have drier foods, then increase the amount of water accordingly. Urine colour is a good indicator of whether or not you are getting enough water. It shouldn't have too much colour, except early in the morning, when your kidneys have been busy filtering your blood all night while you sleep.

Thanks Louiseds, I think perhaps I need a few more flower heads and leaves in my tea.I have 5 plants growing well now but I dont think they are hardy.
