When I first “cracked the code” on stabilizing and reversing prolapse, and wrote and published Saving the Whole Woman, I set up this forum. While I had finally gotten my own severe uterine prolapse under control with the knowledge I had gained, I didn’t actually know if I could teach other women to do for themselves what I had done for my condition.
So I just started teaching women on this forum. Within weeks, the women started writing back, “It’s working! I can feel the difference!”
From that moment on, the forum became the hub of the Whole Woman Community. Unfortunately, spammers also discovered the forum, along with the thousands of women we had been helping. The level of spamming became so intolerable and time-consuming, we regretfully took the forum down.
Technology never sleeps, however, and we have better tools today for controlling spam than we did just a few years ago. So I am very excited and pleased to bring the forum back online.

Remember, the forum is here for two reasons. First, to get your questions answered by other women who have knowledge and experience to share. Second, it is the place to share your results and successes. Your stories will help other women learn that Whole Woman is what they need.
Whether you’re an old friend or a new acquaintance, welcome! The Whole Woman forum is a place where you can make a difference in your own life and the lives of thousands of women around the world!

Slippery Elm
Hi Empty_ Inside35 Just a quick reply as Im tired and its late. I mentioned Slippery Elm awhile ago for constipation and feeling clogged up like one does when travellign, as that's when a friend first gave me some ,and it worked.Another poster tried it and said it worked in reverse as well and helped her stool firm up as she had the opposite problem to me,but sorry I can't remember who...perhaps if you put my name in the search you might find something. I first used it Easter weekend here in NZ , sometime in April I think.Good luck!
PS I dont like the idea of using Metamucil all the time, like another friend does ,I feel the Slippery Elm is more natural, thats just my gut feeling though nothing scientific from any of my views ;-)

thank you
Thank you for your quick reply, and for your input on it.. Reading about it online doing a search you get so many different responses and it can get a lil scary when trying something new lol I did go and put your name and slippery elm in the search here and did find your other posts and I do feel like It's worth a try :) Yeah as for the metamucil I never asked for advice like I did with this I would have known if u don't get enough water while taking it the bad side of it I probably wouldn't have gotten so bad I had to go into the er. Guess we learn from our mistakes, I just didn't want to make another ...scientific view or not it was helpful so again thank you and hope you had sweet dreams :)

I'll look that up
I'll look it up, but if it's a capsule form/ pill form I can't take it ...I was looking at a Now brand because its powder form. Then again if it's capsule form (the ones your talking about) I can probably just open the capsules since slippery elm also comes in powder form. I will do some research on it, always nice to try a brand someone else has had success with :) thank you

not a pill
As far as I can understand it, Slippery Elm is a food. Ours is kinda like a powder- mix it with water and it turns into pottage or something similar anyway.

Slippery Elm Powder!
Hi empty_ inside35, I found that with loose stools Slippery elm didn't work so well but was great with hard stools, then i tried magnezium powder before bed and it works everytime like a charm with hard or soft stools. I also found that in time as my rectocele improved i am now taking a less amount of magnezium and less often. My problem since rectocele, is loose stools which can be just as problematic as hard stools, because when they are too loose, it's difficult to empty completely. I remember one time for some reason my stool was hard and got stuck (very unusual for me) so as tempting as it was to push, i didn't. Instead i walked out to the kitchen and made myself a drink of Slippery Elm and within a few seconds it slipped right on out... huge relief.
Metamucel is not good for me either and makes me bloat. SE is very soothing on the intestines very gentle and natural. I have had no negative effects from it. I was like you and wasn't sure so i phoned the natropath at the health food store and i bought the smallest amount which here is 100grams. I don't think you can go wrong as it will always come in handy while you have rectocele. Good luck!

this is great info Mishek THANK YOU
wow thank you so much for your reply, this is great info ...do you take slippery elm with the magnesium or you take magnesium and then sometimes add in the slippery elm when needed? Yeah that is when I take my natural calm (magnesium) right before bed along with my apple.. what brand of slippery elm do you use? I am online now and going to amazon to order some right away so it will be in my hands within the next few days.. excited to get some in my hands. funny how the little things like this is so exciting for me lol YOU HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL thank you soooo much
p.s you said you made yourself a drink of slippery elm, does it have a bad taste? doesn't matter if it does I'll still take it I am just curious :)

I used to have to take
I used to have to take magnezium every second night but as my rectocele is improving all the time by being in WW posture, i'm having to take it less often and less of it.At present i take it about every 3 or 4 days, just depends on my diet i guess... some times i might go a whole week without having to take it. I only take the SE when needed. My SE is SF Health Foods Australian owned and operated. I am in Australia.
No it doesn't have a bad taste and you can always add some juice to the water. I think you will be just fine as you experiment with this and the magnezium Powder. Yes it's fun to get results.
All the very best.

Slippery Elm with juice
Hi again, I just mix the powder with a little water to a paste and add a little fruit juice if I have it, not too bad to slide down and then follow that with a little more water.Easier on the tastebuds than apple cider vinegar ! Mine came from the local health shop in a bag.
By the way last week I took a magnesium tablet 2-3 nights for muscle cramps and I had constipation and pop was worse by end of week argh I should have taken more SE Im thinking. I was also on my feet a lot , nearly sank into the dark hole again :-( ok now though had some rest now.

I try to
I try to take my magnesium every night, but sometimes life happens and I forget and I just take it as soon as I remember... I admit my first week when I found out I had a rectocele I did feel like my life was over and which I felt it would rob me of smiling and being happy again. Without this site I don't know where I would be today, probably still laying in bed for over half of my day, crying. Thank you ladies for being there and for taking the time out to reply, you have helped me so much.
Sometimes when things get rough we have so much on our minds we sometimes forget to take the things to help us that is right in front of us. We will have good days but when we have the bad it's good to know someone is out there willing to give a helping hand.. bless you all!!
I will be trying the slippery elm as soon as I get it in the mail and will try with juice as well as you have mentioned. ~ Thank you

First time slippery elm, what I do wrong?
Yesterday I tried slippery elm powder form for the first time for constipation like many others have but I don't know why it did the opposite and made my stool really hard. I had two cups yesterday once in morning and once before bed with the one teaspoon it said to.

slippery elm... water?
I haven't tried the slippery elm yet for constipation but I think I've heard people say that it needs to be with a LOT of water.
hopefully others will reply with more info.
we can be so individual and occasionally, something that works very well for most will work badly for one person.
many on here have had great benefit and help from using ground flax whereas for me, even 1/16 of a teaspoon, even with many cups of water, causes severe constipation for days.
I won't try metamucil/psyllium for the same reason.
I read in your other reply about not always remembering the magnesium.
what I've been finding works for me is to buy magnesium powder (not pills).
I get the 100% pure magnesium oxide by NOW brand. it has no extra stuff and no bad taste. I just keep a little spoon and the bottle on my bedside table and take it right before bed - I just spoon it onto my hand and lick it off.
i find that this way, having it right by my bed, I remember more.
I hope you find a solution that works for you.

always get my hopes up
yeah I always get my hopes up and maybe like you said I didn't have enough water. I too can't take metamucil as It really made things difficult for me and am scared to ever go that route again so I know where your coming from. As for the magnesium I take the powder form, I take Natural Calm but I am always up for trying other brands so maybe when I run out I will pick some up because I don't mind switching things up and besides NOW brand is the same brand a few other things I take is, such a my slippery elm. Good idea about having it next to your bed, I am going to try that so it looks at me in the face before bed and then I wouldn't have a reason to forget :) Thank you for your input and your ideas I sooooo appreciate it.
I was about to go the slippery elm route again today and hope it worked but I got scared and went to the fastest thing that would help which is milk of magnesia, I just want to find other options because I have heard its bad to take it all the time.

Have you tried a high potency
Have you tried a high potency probiotic? For me, I think that has helped the most. I also eat greek yogurt, honey and raw almonds for breakfast. I tried all of the fiber powders, pills, etc. Most of it would kind of work, but then just not right. I take the probiotic every day. No fiber, just regular veggies.

hard stool
Just remember, Empty, that the stool that appeared this morning did not form overnight. If you have been constipated it would probably have been from a couple of days previous. The soft stool from the slippery elm will come later. Don't overdo the slippery elm. More is not necessarily better. It just has to make its way through your digestive system in its own time.

I was curious on what you mean by high potency probiotic? I use one now just started taking it ..it's ULTRA PROBIOTIC COMPLEX 25 (Powder Packets) GNC brand and has 25 billion live active cultures of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium. How would I know if one is high potency or not? I just started my journey on probiotics so it's kind of new to me.
details of the one I take (details on side of box) ...
LAB4 probiotics 25 billion
Lactobacillus acidophilus (CUL 60)
Lactobacillus acidophilus (CUL 21)
Bifidobacterium bifidum (CUL 20)
Bifidobacterium lactis (CUL 30)
Fructooligosaccharides 2000mg

I'll give the slippery elm another try tomorrow, I guess I was just expecting it to happen quickly like the milk of magnesia does for me... I am just so desperate to find something that works and works well. --thank you for your reply

The ones I take are from
The ones I take are from Swanson Vitamins, they have 66 billion per capsule. I have found these ones have the exact same ingredients as Mercola's brand. I take one per day. I also take one Valerian Root every day too. I think they help keep everything calm inside my belly.
