Let's Get The Word Out!

Body:

Hello Everyone!

I am Amy, one of the newest Whole Woman advocates. I work for Christine and Lanny, and as Lanny posted I am a "on the ground, go and talk to people" type. Can I just say that I love my job? I meet wonderful, strong women everyday and I get to impact the world at large and also here in my community.

Let me just take a minute and explain my Whole Woman hats. First off, I am the chipper voice on the other end of the customer service line. You have questions, ladies? Give me a call and I will see what I can do. I also handle the financials, and run the Whole Woman Center. When I moved here from Chicago about a month ago, it seemed to me that the Center was the City of Albuquerque's best kept secret. So, I have given myself the title of Marketing and Programming Director and my job is to get the word out about Whole Woman, this Forum, and also the physical location of the Whole Woman Center here in New Mexico.

As well as being a gorgeous space where Christine teaches her wonderful intro classes and daily yoga, our dream is to see the Center become a community resource for all women. We have enrichment classes and community speakers that focus on education, empowerment and sisterhood. We are taking all the aspects of the Whole Woman lifestyle and educating women about organics, eating local, their bodies and joining together as a voice to be heard. For example, our first speaker is Lois, a local business owner, who will give a presentation about women in business. Later on we plan to have local wine and cheese tastings, and feature organically minded restaurants. We also rent the space to emerging female artists, writers and dancers that would like to have a showcase.

Speaking of being a resource... Let me get back to this forum topic! I am also dedicated to being a resource for YOU, our online community. Do you need ideas about places to go and get the word out? Advice on how to talk to doctors and other women? Graphics and flyers? Did you know that if you order 8 or more of Whole Woman products you get a 40% discount? You can give them to your friends for Christmas or Hannukah or make viewing event with your local library. You can then resell them to women in your community.

Let me know how I can help you. I am in the office M-F 8 to 5 Mountain time.

But wait! I already have a way you can help me! I need nominations for strong active women in your community that you would like to see speak at our 1st Annual Whole Woman Conference in May or be in our next video. The best part? If we pick someone in your community, it is possible that Christine will come and interview her. Now who wants to meet Christine, huh?

Many Blessings and All the Joy,

Amy

So glad you are able to help Wholewoman get the word out there more than ever before!
If there is anyone you might like to involve in this movement it's Karen Brody. She wrote a play called 'Birth' and has organized a BOLD movement. You can find her simply by googling.
I was involved in bringing "Birth" to my community a few years ago and the impact that play had on our community is still seen today!

I promise I have not forgotten. My life is just a tiny bit nuts right now. I am not going to wait until it settles down- oh no! But I'm giving myself a little longer before I go for it-
You will see my ideas come to life sometime before this time next year.

Welcome Amy

I am the not-so-local Sheriff of this fine Village. We don't have Sheriff's in Australia, so really have no pre-conceptions of what a Sheriff does. I don't wear a star on my hat and I don't lock up naughty women, but I do respond to bad Forum behaviour and find ways through Forum disharmony.

It will be great having you moving projects along and getting our Members on the way to spreading Wholewoman all over the female world.

Could we have a specific request at the end of every newsletter, asking women to 'come out' to their friends and family, and forward newsletters to some of the women they know, and suggesting that they visit The Village and go to The Theatre and watch Wholewoman 101?

Just like the milk being at the back of the supermarket women will pass a lot of sign posts to other parts of The Village, and opportunities for them to understand their bodies better, on their way to viewing this video.

International Gynaecological Awareness Day is 10 September each year. We can support world awareness of gynaaecological issues by having Getup! run a campaign to publicise this day. Add your voice here, http://suggest.getup.org.au/forums/60819-getup-campaign-suggestions/sugg... . I do have some difficulty with this day because gynaecologists cause so many problems while trying to solve others with their scalpels. Having said that there are many women alive today who would not be alive and able to raise their families if it were not for gynaecological oncology. The wonderful thing this day does is to bring 'women's problems' out of the closet, name them, and 'unshame' them.

We can participate in International Women's Day on 8 March each year. http://internationalwomensday.org/176countries# , I believe there was an event in Albuquerque last year, among many in the world. Perhaps Wholewoman should be part of it? Anyone want to run an Event in your part of the world? It doesn't have to be a grand affair.

Breast cancer research in Western Australia is supported by Biggest Ever Morning Teas in all parts of the State, where people organise morning teas in work places and communities and raise money from gold coin donations. Pink food colouring walks off the shelves of supermarkets the previous week. Bras are worn on the outside of clothing in street marches, by women *and* men. Perhaps Wholewoman could run a campaign of street marches where everyone wears a little patch of hot pink acrylic pubic hair on their crotch, or pink knickers on their head? Yes, I am Wholewoman's Queen of Too Much Information as well as the Sheriff...

Louise, I almost snorted my dinner through my nose when I got to the end of your post. You are too much. I love you. Anyway, welcome Amy!! I'm most interested at this time in getting a link to a printable brochure. Also very excited because I think there might be a teacher in training within a few hours of where I live. Can't wait. - Surviving

Louiseds;

I lived in New Zealand for a year, and there's not much love there for Ozzies, but let me tell you that I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship. Those ideas are so fittingly of that hemisphere and I took a long long laugh. Makes me think of a rugby after party with a cause. But anywhooo, I hope this post still makes it up there after all that...

I am all about making WW more visible. What I can see is the eventual making of a downloadable "kit" for different days like this that women can take off our website. Back in the day I did something similar for a national student organization.

I think it would be great too for us to come up with a "Who do you know?" list, for women to starting thinking about who they are connected to in their communities that might be able to help our cause. It is usually more people than you think.

I love the idea of a "newsletter challenge." It could be small steps like coming out, or asking each woman to hand out 5 flyers that month. We can work everyone up to the big leagues!

I just emailed her! We will see what comes of it!

She emailed me back! let's get her involved!

Dear Amy,
Welcome to Whole Woman! I am one of Christine's teachers in training. You sound very enthusiastic and excited about your job. I know Christine is quite pleased to have you on board. I'm sure winter in Alburquerque will be much more pleasant than Chicago.
Good luck,
WholeWomanPA

@WholeWomanPA-

I am excited about my job! So it's a given that I get to talk to wonderful women, but can I just say that I get to wear sandals to my job and I can ride my bike to work. There's a bunch of perks.

Right now I have a dog at my feet, and the sun is going through the window where I have my plants. I am planning the conference right now, and that makes me super happy.

I've got it made.

I look forward to meeting you!
