chronic candida

Body:

Hi There,
Does anyone have a regimen for keeping yeast at bay. I have a chronic problem that I can not get under control. The symptoms have become worse since menopause.
Thank you,
Berkshire girl

Berkshire girl, are you sure it is thrush?

Have you had any pharmacy treatments?

Have you Searched for thrush or candida using the search box?

Thrush doesn't like an acid environment. Now your Leutinising hormone levels are permanently high your vagina will tend to be alkaline, which makes it more vulnerable to thrush.

Yoghurt, natural vinegar and probably lemon juice rinses can be very soothing (after the youch stinging settles! You can get vaginal probiotic capsules.

I suggest that you don't traumatise the area. That might mean a sex holiday, um, I mean a holiday from sex, for a while. Semen too is alkaline. Condoms and lube might help, just for a while, but the less friction the better.

They say that it is not catching, but if your tissues are inflamed they are vulnerable to infection, even if it is just re-infection from your partner's penis or from toys.

I suggest that you keep your bed linen scrupulously clean, and wear fresh jammies or nightie to bed. Clean towels for every shower, etc. Try to keep the area dry. A cup of vinegar in the last rinse of your washing will help to destroy any candida still on your undies and linen, particularly if you cannot dry your washing in the sun.

Eat low GI foods to keep your blood sugar level, so the candida can't pig out when BS goes sky high, and your metabolism stays level. Thrush is also a sign of some diseases, eg diabetes. It might pay to get checked out by the doctor to rule these more serious diseases out.

It is worth doing as many factors as possible, to get the incidence of it in all parts of your environment down. To a degree, the less there is around, the less you are likely to get it.

Check out the Search box.

You might need to go fully into an anti-candida diet if you are struggling to keep yeast at bay. I have recommended this person to many over the years: Bruce Semon wrote "Feast Without Yeast". It has easy to understand language and recipes for yeast free living. He is an MD/PhD who bases his work on real life experience in his family.

You might not need to go there. I'd say find a great probiotic, too.

Thank you Louiseds. I have tried everything from Monistat to Diflucan to garlic and probiotics. Cut out yeast from my diet and sugar. Hot humid weather is the worst. Cultures come back positive with candida. No other diagnosis; no diabetes.

Thank you Spamelah. I have ordered the book you suggested and am presently taking a probiotic. Have been off of yeast foods and sugar with poor results. Very frustrating.

Have a look at this site, Berkshire Girl, http://www.wholeapproach.com/candida/index.php . Bear in mind that they are selling products but there are some interesting stats in there from their research, and their advice seems to be very commonsense and comprehensive.

Forgot to add coconut oil! I love the stuff. And, contrary to conventional beliefs, I does good things to our cholesterol panel... not bad. I eat it off of the spoon. I rub it on my skin. Extra virgin;unrefined. Organic.
