weight loss affecting prolapse

Body:

I am back on the forum after a year's absence due to my partner's stroke in 09/2012 and his triple bypass on May 24th, 2013. (My uterine prolapse was triggered by a March 2012 visit to my gyn). I bought Christine's book and was fairly successful at walking the Whole Woman Way and modifying my pilates and gym programs without having to give them up. After Dick's bypass, I switched us to an 85% plant-based diet with no red meat or dairy products. It's been fabulous since I went into this plant-based health style. As one side effect though, I have lost 19 pounds since April 1st. I look great and my skinny jeans zip, BUT my uterus has decided to descend a lot further and has become a constant bulge. It seems as if all that fat kept it wedged up but of course it can't be true, can it? I am getting this feeling I used to get from wearing Tampax by the end of a period. I keep shoving my uterus back up when I'm walking around in my condo. Out walking for exercise, I sit on a stone wall every so often to work the bulge back up by sitting down! Nothing seems to keep it up. It's made bathroom trips a trial because I'm even afraid of a gentle push for bowel movements. I sit there and hold my uterus in! Fortunately eating all these plants makes things a lot easier or it could be worse! I know my prolapse could be a lot worse than it is even now, but with all the other stress of having to shift from lover to caregiver after the heart surgery, I am no longer dealing with it well as I did in 2012 after discovering Christine Kent. Could stress be a factor with POP too? I am trying a "greet the dawn" meditation out on my little balcony now with some deep breathing to see if relaxing helps. All suggestions welcome!

Yes silverfox, stress as well as weight loss can cause the uterus to prolapse more. Have you tried jiggling and firebreathing several times a day? That helps me, especially on stressful days. Some women with more profound prolapse will even use a v2 supporter or a fembrace to help hold things in while they get sorted back on track or just starting out to build more confidence.
I really like Christine's DVDs. They have helped me tremendously in getting my body in whole woman posture.
So sorry about your husband. I wish you both well.

Thanks for Aging gracefully's suggestion to me, I am one of the women wearing both. I have one Fembrace and two V2 supporters and what a difference! I cannot thank Aging enough! I can now relax my belly and bottom without worrying the bladder and uterus will drop completely out while maintaining WW posture. Like you, I would tuck my organ(s) in while at home.

It took me a while to find a place to buy the V2 supporter. If you live in the U.S. you are fortunate because it cost me 2 and 1/2 times the price for one. If you can afford both, I would suggest both. I wear a size small V2 in the morning and a size medium in the afternoon; I alternate with a fembrace. Should you decide to purchase, don't give up if you are in discomfort at first...it took me a week to figure out where to put the velcro tabs for comfort.

I wish you all the best; I know how it is to have severe prolapse.

Hi Silverfox - definitely stress can be a factor here. But I'm also wondering, has your weight loss prompted you to wear tighter clothing? Skinny jeans and prolapse might not be a good combo. Christine describes in her book how tight jeans were literally squeezing her uterus out of her body - she cut them all up for potholders! Can you keep your belly relaxed and organs forward in your skinny jeans? - Surviving

Could somebody explain a bit more about V2 supporters and fembraces? I am finishing up four weeks up in a small town in the northern PA forest and going back to the Washington, DC area. Velcro tabs? I don't care how much it costs just to be able to walk around without finding something to sit on to wiggle my uterus back up inside to continue walking! Soon I will be searching for a brand new gynecologist who will be "prolapse friendly, positive, and non-surgical in outlook!" If it weren't for Christine Kent's warnings, I'd have been headed for surgery just to end the irritation. Any additional information on where or how to order will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Osmari has a nice reply post in another thread on the V2 and Fembrace. Just type her name in the Search Box above and then go to the thread titled: A Little Reassurance. She has a couple of handy tricks and also lists a couple of places to buy from. Hope this helps!
