When I first “cracked the code” on stabilizing and reversing prolapse, and wrote and published Saving the Whole Woman, I set up this forum. While I had finally gotten my own severe uterine prolapse under control with the knowledge I had gained, I didn’t actually know if I could teach other women to do for themselves what I had done for my condition.
So I just started teaching women on this forum. Within weeks, the women started writing back, “It’s working! I can feel the difference!”
From that moment on, the forum became the hub of the Whole Woman Community. Unfortunately, spammers also discovered the forum, along with the thousands of women we had been helping. The level of spamming became so intolerable and time-consuming, we regretfully took the forum down.
Technology never sleeps, however, and we have better tools today for controlling spam than we did just a few years ago. So I am very excited and pleased to bring the forum back online.

From my observations of the elderly I worked with, when they had a UTI the confusion hit on full force right away. It wasn't a gradual thing, or even an on and off thing. It was like night and day. That's how we recognized UTI from other confusions that the elderly do get from other sources which could be from new medications, a decline in health, etc.

Thanks AG, that is what I suspected, but it helps to hear it. She is doing OK; I think these spells will continue to come and go with increasing frequency and duration, given her age. She was prone to UTIs in her younger years, and she learned early on the importance of complete emptying. I was concerned that if she did start getting them again, it might mean that in her confusion she was forgetting or failing to empty completely. Thanks again - Surviving

That's good. If she doesn't seem to be getting better, you can always have her checked. You never know with the elderly what's going on with them. But, they all do decline over time, just part of the aging process. Sometimes it's mini strokes or mini heart attacks that causes the confusion. I guess my grandma had those, and the only way they knew was after she died, and they noticed scar tissue on her heart from years of min heart attacks. But, like I said, it could be from anything else also.

to say I agree from observation and a little discussion with nursing staff at hostel/nursing home with what graceful has said here surviving. The suddenness and the full-onness of the effects do point to UTIs. Whereas drugs, mini heart attacks/strokes, even vivid dreams (including during day dreams and naps) and age and the emotional distress of this change in circumstances that this advantaged age brings with it of course can lead to the less agitated and fluctuating forms of confusion. Yes, wouldn't hurt to have mum checked and maybe a brief review of any drugs. Sometimes there may be no longer need for some and combinations etc can have side-effects.

That is so true about the drugs, Fab. I never saw so many drugs that were pumped into those poor little old people. Sometimes, some of them weren't even necessary. Sorry, ranting a bit.
Yes, even if a certain medication was working for a person, there may come a time it gets cut back or cut out, because the person who was fine with it suddenly started reacting to it in adverse ways. Or, like you said, adding certain medications together could cause some confused behavior. Something to always think about.
Along with all those other changes that happen gradually or even suddenly. Gotta love them though, such sweeties!!

UTI in the elderly
Hi Surviving,
We were close friends of a family of elderly ladies, & one of them had a dream that she was chasing a cat, started to sleep walk to chase the cat & fell out of bed. That was put down to a UTI.
Another relative who was diagnosed with a UTI, having been an accomplished "do it yourself person", was busy cutting up her carpet in her sleep.
Right or wrongly, I've heard that UTIs cause no pain in the elderly, which if it is true is merciful in one way, but makes it harder to diagnose.
