When I first “cracked the code” on stabilizing and reversing prolapse, and wrote and published Saving the Whole Woman, I set up this forum. While I had finally gotten my own severe uterine prolapse under control with the knowledge I had gained, I didn’t actually know if I could teach other women to do for themselves what I had done for my condition.
So I just started teaching women on this forum. Within weeks, the women started writing back, “It’s working! I can feel the difference!”
From that moment on, the forum became the hub of the Whole Woman Community. Unfortunately, spammers also discovered the forum, along with the thousands of women we had been helping. The level of spamming became so intolerable and time-consuming, we regretfully took the forum down.
Technology never sleeps, however, and we have better tools today for controlling spam than we did just a few years ago. So I am very excited and pleased to bring the forum back online.

diagnosis
Hello Dabsfam,
It is unusual to have pronounced rectocele and severe uterine prolapse at the same time because they both come from the back of the pelvis, and therefore usually crowd each other out (Nature’s pessary). What were the symptoms you told your midwife you were having before you checked for yourself? How did she check for the gap in your symphysis?
You may have read this many times already, but there is really only one thing to do and that is the WW work. What position did you do the pelvic rocks in? Squatting is good as long as you stay up on your toes and keep a strong lumbar curvature by lifting your chest and tucking your chin.
The diastasis in your pubic bones is there because you need to pull your entire front line up (not in!) I am working on a new program about the front line, which extends from your pubic symphysis all the way up to wrap around the back of your head, where it meets the same line from the other side. The absolute only thing that pulls this line into its functional length is WW posture and exercise.
I do not know what your PT was seeing, but her evaluation sounds peculiar. What you are pushing forward sounds more like cystocele. You verified for yourself that it does move with the squats.
The pelvic organs only move one way, toward the abdominal wall. Rectocele will move back, but only when the back vaginal/front rectal walls are pulled up as the uterus/colon are moved forward with this work. Your condition is no different.
Wishing you well,
Christine

Thank you for your reply,
Thank you for your reply, Christine!!
My symptoms seemed to become noticeable while in the hospital with my three week old. He was diagnosed with a UTI that had reached his kidneys and was admitted for 10 days after a beautiful, healing homebirth. It was a very stressful time. I was eating junk and got constipated and not long after that I had the tampon not in right feeling, and like something was gong to fall out. I started noticing a small bulge at the back of my vaginal wall when I needed to BM and instinctively began splinting myself though I don't believe that I actually need to. What I am seeing seems to be connected to the tissue behind my urethra and has a very distinct opening which is why I assumed it was/is my cervix. When I feel internally it feels like a tube behind that all the way up, rounded and connected on one side(at the front). The PT was recommended by several women in my homebirthing community and she checked my pubic symphysis by feeling it. She has me doing an exercise where I squeeze a ball between my knees for 6 seconds, and then try to squeeze my knees outward while putting inward pressure with my hands on them for 6 seconds. I intend to order your DVD though I'm not entirely sure which to start with. I am hesitant to trust the advice from the PT entirely because I know they are notorious for believing the answer to prolapse is kegels, though she doesn't ask me to do many reps a day. My pelvic floor strength is virtually nil, she gave me a 1 out of 5 because she said she felt a "flicker". My rectocele isn't what seems to be bothering me right now, but whatever this bulge is coming from the front is definitely irritating and scary. Also, I've done the pelvic rocks in both a sitting position and on hands and knees, and both times they have definitely made the bulge drop lower. :/

program
Hi Dabs,
If you use the search function and type in "getting worse" you will see that it is very common for symptoms to worsen as the organs shift toward their proper positions. In the end, the entire pelvic and abdominal cavities must be pulled up and forward.
The program I am working on (and I must get back to work) is for women just like you! It will be very affordable and will offer a perspective that the army of PTs and mummy-tummiers just aren't seeing. For now I would suggest that you take a deep breath and trust that your body will return to normal. In WW posture, the pelvis "nutates" and the front of the pubic bones are squeezed together. I would practice the posture every time you are on your feet and as much of the time sitting as makes sense for you. Walk in the posture and don't be afraid to lift and carry your baby high on your abdominal/chest wall while standing and walking strongly pulled up in the posture. The ball-squeeze seems like it would be affecting the pubic bones, but it only makes sense if the movement is coming from sacral nutation/counternutation.
If I can keep other distractions at bay (and you are not a distraction!) I should be able to finish this by the end of next week. It is an amazing project that is bringing up lots of emotional stuff for me!!!

breathing
Just an aside, when doing New Kegels/pelvic rocks, the breathing is critical. Kind of like mini-firebreathing. Inhale when belly is moving forward, exhale when you're pulling it back. This was not intuitive for me at the beginning. Incorrect posture reverses normal breathing. - Surviving

I just got a new password
I just got a new password that is only valid for twenty four hours, so wanted to ask a few things. I have been here before, but I forget my password, so not sure after twenty four hours how to get a new one if I need to post, so I might not be able to reply, so thanks for any help if I cannot get back to the website. Sorry for being in the wrong place or thread, I'm not very good on the computer. Anyway I have not got a proper diagnosis for a prolapse, as stated below, but I have decided to try the posture again, ( I think last time I tried it I wasn't doing it properly and so stopped doing it and I think things got worse, but not sure. The reason I say it seems to have got worse is I have this loose kind of feeling in my back passage on and off for about three weeks almost like I'm going to get diarrhea (sorry tmi) but I don't get it any diarrhea or even need to go to bathroom, it's like something to do with sphincter muscle maybe, or maybe it's to do with rectocele,so wonder if anyone else has experienced this weird feeling. It wakes me up some nights too whatever it is. My GP prescribed amtriptyline tablets to relax the nerve, but I'm quite scared to take them as afraid of side effects, as they're for depression too. Has anyone here ever been on them, or have they helped anyone with pelvic floor problems. I can't get a proper diagnosis as been told it's weak pelvic floor muscles, then got another diagnosis that it was a bladder prolapse, and another of ibs. and still another of pelvic floor dyssnergia. I have the saving the wholewoman book, and looked in the self exam section, but it's hard to guess what it is as my bulge looks like bladder prolapse, but if it's bladder prolapse then all my symptoms seem to be at the back like I need a bowel movement, except this weird feeling I started getting two weeks ago. Can the bladder fall onto the back passage to give strange feelings not pressure, but the feeling I described above. I'm sorry for all the questions, but I think if I had answers as to what exactly is wrong thenI would be more keen to do something to help myself. Could posture help me if my problem is pelvic floor dysnergia? Thanks again and sorry to bother you all again. Charlene.
