Possible prolapse? A few questions to help my fears before my OBGYN appointment next week.

Body:

Hi, all!

So, I had surgery about 10 weeks ago for a gallbladder issue and since then have been unwell. I am now struggling with hormone imbalances. :( However, I had terrrrrible constipation for about 9 weeks after surgery, with much straining.

My question is this: this past week, I have major urine urgency (peeing every 20 minutes, but only tiny amounts), and I cannot pee fully without standing up. Is this anything anyone has experienced?? I must stand up and pee in a cup in order to empty my bladder fully (and even then it still feels funny).

Today, I went ahead and took a mirror to myself after a tampon became stuck (!). After I was able to remove it and take a look, it did NOT look normal. It seemed I had some minor extra tissues bulging out from my vaginal area.

Anyhow, I went ahead and called around to some OBGYNs (don't have one at present), and made an appointment. In the meantime, I ended up using the bathroom and having a bowel movement. After this, I noticed the urgency I had to urinate was lessened. Also the pressure and fullness in my abdomen and bladder area was lessened. When I checked my vaginal area again, it looked normal.

Is this possible with a prolapse? If so, what kind?

Many, many thanks!

Hi indigogirl. I would venture to guess offhand that you have a combo cystocele and rectocele - that's what I have and it's the most common form of prolapse. This condition does keep the uterus from moving too far out of position, so that's one good thing to start off with.

The organs are on the move all the time. You will feel lots of changes as you go throughout your day, and elimination creates many of these changes.

Start doing the WW work now. It's OK to be checked out by the gyn but he or she is not going to have any helpful suggestions, most likely. Surgery, pessary, PT/kegels, or doing nothing, those are the typical ideas thrown about by the medical establishment. None of it is helpful, some of it downright harmful. So please arm yourself with some information before your appointment. Here is a video to watch:

Read all around the forum and website and blog - see what this work is all about. The only solution for prolapse management is to move the organs forward into the relaxed lower belly, and this work teaches you how to do that. - Surviving
