prolapse bladder

Body:

Is it common to have a odor when the bladder is out a little bit.

I don't personally think there's any connection between odor and a mild cystocele. But others may have different experiences. Remember it's not the bladder that's actually "out", it's a bulge in the vaginal wall. - Surviving

Where can I find information on how to manage recurring UTI? I have had 2 this year and have bladder prolapse. I have heard ( not from my Dr) that this condition can cause recurring Urinary tract infections, and even cancer. An acquaintance at work said her Dr advised surgery, to prevent further complications from infections she was getting. Hearing this has caused me to worry more about having prolapse if it could actually cause more problems! I need to know what book to read, dvd to order, I need information please.

A prolapse need not be a cause for recurring UTI unless you are having trouble emptying completely. There is a wealth of information on this website, blog, and forum, and the book and dvds are available on the store tab. There is only one book, and a whole line of dvds. I recommend the basic First Aid For Prolapse dvd. There are some great bundles too. Here is more information to start you off:

If you lift up and a little forward off the toilet seat, you can tip yourself forward enough to empty the bladder completely. If you need to, you can even get down on hands and knees, in the shower or over a basin. Incomplete emptying can definitely cause recurring UTIs. Prolapse does NOT cause cancer. And surgery is to be avoided at all costs. Stop talking to whoever you're talking to, and please get some solid information. Let us know what questions you have. - Surviving

I think this is a common worry. You didn't specify what type of odor, but since you said bladder I will assume urine. If you have a bit of leakage you might notice a bit more odor when your undies are down, especially if you have been active, but I doubt anyone else can smell anything. I smiled when I read your post because I have the occasional spritz and have asked my daughter, on more than one occasion, if I smell funny. She always reassures me that I smell fine and has sworn that she will let me know if it is ever otherwise.

I wonder if some of the odors we seem to notice now are the normal scents we've had all along but because of our "celes" we are just more acutely aware of them. Unless we are bare bottomed, as we pee throughout the day we do get some of the pubes wet and they will hold a slight scent which gets transfered to our undies. This is normal and happens to us all, celes or no. If you feel especially worried about odor you could try wiping the area with a warm cloth after peeing, or even feminine wipes (though I am not a big fan of these - sensitive skin). If you have enough leakage to need a pad, just remember to change it often. Keep in mind that medicines, hormone shifts, and even some foods can cause your urine odor to be stonger at times -- Drink more water.

Take heart Grammimi, I doubt anyone notices...but I hear you cuz its crossed my mind once or twice.....
Best wishes!
