Safe and comfortable travel

Body:

Hi, I'm brand-new to Whole Woman, and am so grateful to have found it. I'm devouring Christine's articles, books and videos as fast as I can, and working hard to develop the Whole Woman posture. Boy, are my ribs sore! I have cystocele, and need to know if I can travel safely with that problem. Hubby wants to go visit his Mom, who has cancer, but it's a 13-hour drive from here one way, and we could only stay 2 days, so we're talking 26 hours in a car. Any suggestions, or should I bow out entirely? I really want to go if I won't damage myself further.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong here - am new to this myself - but I too feel pretty awful after a car journey and would say you'd definitely need some cushion or proper lumbar support in the car to make the journey bearable. Is there any way you could break up the trip with frequent stops to walk? Sitting these days with both cystocele and rectocele is painful in my tailbone and I find the baggy loose feeling when I do get up is at its worst after car trips unless I'm careful with posture.

Yes, I agree with Miss D. Car seats are awful, and all of us need to be supporting our lower back in the car, even for normal trips like commutes and errands. For a long trip, definitely take lots of breaks. But for Pete's sake don't bow out of your trip. Life goes on! Take it slower; it sounds like you are pushing pretty hard. Enjoy the trip - sorry it isn't a happier one. - Surviving
