Rectocele..can i pick up my grandbaby???

Body:

I am 4 years post hyst.. 2 year post recto-fistula repair...now dealing most likely with rectocele.... cant get in to dr for two more weeks...but I have been through so much of this...im almost certain.....
So many questions.....

Can I lift my 19 month old grand baby.....

Can I still do my yard (push mowing)?

Can I still tap dance? If you don't know tap dancing is pretty high impact?

AND OH MY...the big one...What about romance...can I still be sexually active with rectocele? will it make it worse?

I am absolutely consumed with worry that my quality of life is over.... have a nagging feeling of never fully evacuating...and pressure in back and front... some hope and answers to my questions would be so nice...

Thank you in advance

Hi and welcome joecodmom,
You have come to the right place! I have not had any surgery, except three ipisiotomies, however I will help with what I know.
Firstly I have rectocele and it does not affect intercourse at all...in fact it helps put everything where it is supposed to be!
Being careful with diet is helpful for rectocele. For me at this time ( I do change things at times depending on what I research)....it is making sure I have enough vegetables and particularly fruit. Good quality bread and brown rice have their place in my diet also, some animal protein as well...I don't have dairy products often...
Lately, instead of always having butter, I have a little occasionally.... I have added oils like coconut oil and olive oil and greens with as many meals as I can and that soothes the digestive tract immensely, and makes elimination easier. Tip forward on the toilet seat to go.

You can do most things in life once you know the WWprinciples and how to adapt yourself and equipment. I can now dance and run and walk and sleep without knee and hip dysfunction and pain, and so many more benefits.

Christine is bringing out shortly a video/information specifically for post - hyst women.
You can search the posts on post hyst here on the forum. She does have specific advice for lifting in general and for new mums, however I am not sure if lifting is different for post hyst, except being more careful .. there should be some posts on that if you search.
I hope that helps you get started - I felt exactly like you about quality of life when I found Christine's life changing work.

Best Wishes,
Aussie Soul Sister

Just hearing from someone who has experienced this, makes me feel not so alone. I try to explain to my husband and daughter and no one really understands this misery. Mostly the feeling of always having to go is the worst symptom. I still haven't figured out how to make this go away. Any tips on how to manager the constant nagging feeling of always needing to have bm? I could deal with the pressure I feel in the front, but living as a slave to the toilet is the worse. So far I do not have back pain or any incontinence. I have been ramping up on fiber and fluids, lots of beans and lentils, cherries, cucumbers, and lemon water. NO dairy. I also have been taking Lisezz every other day as a constipation precautionary, since constipation is what I know pretty sure brought this on. Anyway... I use a bidet which helps with bm...but still do you have any info that can eleviate the constant feeling of needing to have a bm?

Thank you for helping me feel not so alone.

Joecodmom

Hi joecodmom,
It's the whole woman posture that helps relieve the pressure and other symptoms of prolapse, and our hope is that the post hyst ladies will also be able the reap the benefits of this work. We will know more about that once Christine has finished her post hyst video. In the meantime, try working gently on the posture and pay attention to how it makes you feel as you do it, as this is a good indicator to how much you will be able to do. And, take your time with it, slowly but surely is always the best way to go with this kind of work.
Best wishes to you.

where do I find info on the posture?

It would probably be best for you to get more familiarized with this site. Go to the resources tab above and there you will find some videos, one in which Christine explains what is going on with us and what to do about it. There is also much information on the other tabs of the tool bar that would be very helpful in getting better acquainted with this work.

yes. I have watched the video. and looked at some of the forums... I was just wondering if I am missing something as to where the information is about the posture...or is it only in the videos for purchase?

Hi and welcome Joecodmom,

We are just finishing up an introductory video on WW posture. It will be very inexpensive and will explain why women must return to natural alignment to prevent, stabilize, and reverse symptoms of prolapse, incontinence, and chronic hip pain. It will go on sale this week!

Whole Woman is sustained by product sales and we so appreciate your support! You will not find WW posture anywhere else on the planet (except in all young children and women living in traditional ways). All other proponents of posture are teaching a very unnatural tucking of the rib cage, which actually sets women up for these conditions over time.

Again, thank you for your support!

Christine

P.S. Completing Saving the Post-Hysterectomy Woman is our very next goal, which we're committed to finishing before the WW Conference in August. My sincere apologies for it having taken so long!

is there anything I can do right now to help my rectocele and comfort level? Asking out of desperation..

Hi joecodmom,
There is no quick fix for prolapse, and especially since you have had surgeries, it is not something you want to rush into.
I wouldn't go too crazy on the fiber and other laxative products, because they can have and adverse affect on your rectocele as well. Just eliminate those processed foods and sugars as they can be very inflammatory, and add in plenty of fruits and veggies. Some women also like to take a magnesium supplement to help with their bowels, but don't rely on those as a permanent fix either.
If you want immediate information, go to the whole woman store where you will find all the products to help you. Most of us started with the book Saving the Whole Woman and The First Aid for Prolapse DVD which you can also purchase on online video or pdf. The posture is explained very well in these sources, and there is additional information to get you through this.
Remember, this is not a race, because we do have the time to study this work and apply it to our everyday lives, and we will be doing it for the rest of our lives, as it is the natural posture we should have always been maintaining anyway.
For immediate relief of symptoms, you can always get down on knees and forearms and do some breathing into your belly. Also, raw local honey can be applied to the vagina for any burning or dryness.
Chin up dear joecodmom, we have all been through this most desperate time, and have learned that it is not an emergency situation, and we can take control of this with Christine's work which she has so generously provided for us.

Hi joecodmom,
The feeling of pressure on the rectum and needing to "go",could be too much food, and too much of the windy sort like beans and lentils. Adding the laxative is probably adding to the over - signalling of the bowel.
Sometimes if I eat too well I get the feeling that I need to go in the rectum and sometimes it is wind and other times it can be small BMs.

Also other internal organs can be falling back a little and putting pressure on the bowel...if I am not careful with my posture I can get that feeling at the end of the day sometimes.
The all fours position Aging Gracefully suggests above it a great exercise to do.

I know you are feeling desperate and no - one understands..we do here and I have felt the same way. Other people can't understand as they don't know what we now know from Christine's work.
We can only help you from hindsight.
If you knew, and we knew what we know now, we would have all been in a space of much more peace from the beginning.

Belly/torso breathing is what we do all the time with Whole Woman....
To help you center yourself and relax more as stress aggravates the response of bodily functions/signals, practice torso, belly breathing, bringing your mind back to the breathing when distracted by thoughts even if you have to do it a lot as I sometimes do... often I do this breathing exercise when I am going to sleep, and focusing on breathing is very soothing.

Read over these posts, write yourself some things to remind yourself to look up or do and work from there with your body.
I learned how to connect with my body and soul through this work and now its progression and what I do is subject to what my body tells me through intuition with this synergy.

Sending much love and best wishes,

Aussie Soul Sister

So the book is the best place to get posture information? I have read just a little from the post about the posture....shoulders back, but down, belly sortof out...like a chicken walk and am finding some almost instant gratification from it... I bet if I had detailed info on the posture I could even get more relief...
Im thinking, Aussie, that I may have introduced to much fiber to quickly.... maybe I will tone down a little today.... just terrified of constipation since Im pretty sure that's what threw me over the edge... the symptom onset came after severe several week long bought of constipation and straining. Its my first day back to work since the major onset of symptoms...Very nervous....
Anyone know if its safe to use a bidet with rectocele??... I am almost dependent on mine, it prevents me from having to splint.

Thank you for all the feedback ladies...

Your description of posture is a little bit off.....so yes, get some materials and don't try to do the Whole Woman work without proper information. I've never used a bidet myself, but I'm unclear what the safety issue would be.....it's just water, right? - Surviving
