Is Hula Hoop good or bad for POP

Body:

I think it is more appropriate to create a new topic on this subject. Sorry for the duplication.

This is a question for Christine.
In addition to Christine's First Aid for Prolapse and Yoga wheels. I use this tool:
Sports Hoop, Large, Weighted Hula Hoop for my daily workout, and wonder if this is good or bad for my prolapse problem.

TotallyConfused,
Christine may or may not come on to answer this question; she isn't always available due to her busy schedule, but she may and does on occasion which is a treat for all of us.
I did look at your hula hoop, and have been trying to remember back to when I have actually used one! The principle is the same with any new activity that you want to try. Does it throw you out of posture while doing it? Does it make you suck your belly in? Your belly should be going out on the in breath and in on the out breath.
And, if you don't become symptomatic while doing it, then go for it.

I agree. First you have to understand and nail the posture elements, and then you are in a better position to judge how any particular activity needs to be carried out. Anything else is putting the cart before the horse. The breathing sequence AG describes is a theme that runs throughout the WW work. When we exercise with Christine, she reminds us about posture. When we're on our own, it's up to us! - Surviving

Thank you both for the good advice!
I have been doing the hoop with WW posture in mind, and also breathing into the belly mindfully, with relaxed belly. This actually made me feel good afterwards. I will keep up the exercise with 300 rounds in the morning and 300 in the evening anticlockwise, and I see how it goes a month later.

That sounds great TC. Mindfully done, this sounds like great exercise (honestly I should get myself a hula hoop and see if I can still do it!!) - Surviving
