pennyroyal

Body:

Hi All,
I recently read an old post of Christine's saying she used pennyroyal as a zits bath. I am wondering if it was the herb itself or a concentrated oil in a bottle and how much would you put to how much water? My whole Uterus is mostly outside my Vagina and has recently been looking a bit red, I have bought Vit. E oil and I also use Coconut oil but I am not sure that this works every time so I was wondering about the Pennyroyal. I will not be able to sit in a bath because of other issues but thought I could use a towel to bath myself with.

Hi Daphne,

Many years ago I experimented with pennyroyal tea in a sitz bath, and subsequently experienced a cervical polyp fall off in the toilet. It seemed obvious that the herbs and disintegration of the polyp were directly connected, so I wrote about it here.

It's hard for me to see how pennyroyal is going to help your profound prolapse or your inflamed cervix.

I remember back in the day - during the early 90s (when there was no web and no information about prolapse anywhere). I had refused hysterectomy and was dealing on my own with an externalized cervix. I was determined to understand everything I could about my condition, and several times in the bath I remember bearing down and pushing it out as far as it would go. I could literally reach inside and hold the body of my uterus in my hand.

Today I can still push my cervix to the vaginal opening, but it is always at least contained within my labia. On a good day I cannot feel it at all, which is rather miraculous given that my front vaginal wall is still tightly sutured to my abdominal wall, allowing my uterus a straight shot out the back.

In my case the axis of flow of intraabdominal pressure has been greatly changed, first by 2 large episiotomies (the perineum never recovers, with only thin skin and no muscle b/t an enlarged vaginal opening and the anal sphincter), and then by bladder suspension, so that there is really no hope of ever fully anteverting my uterus again.

I would say this is probably a worst-case scenario in terms of uterine prolapse.

So, I work with it every day. Every morning I apply honey (we've talked extensively about this) and in doing so push my uterus all the way forward as I gently bear down. This creates slight cystocele/rectocele so the cervix has a bit harder time coming down again. The honey also keeps my entire vagina/vulva healthy and comfortable. Then it is on to walking, exercising, sitting, and living in WW posture as much as possible throughout the day.

I run (up on my toes), take ballet, and do Scottish Country dancing without any worsening of my symptoms.

In the past, I’ve had bouts of worsening symptoms (cervix chaffing on vulva), which I have responded to by placing either organic cotton balls or a sea sponge (jadeandpearl.com) soaked in a bit of honey high in the back corners of my vagina. Total comfort ensues (zero prolapse!) for about 2 hours until my bowel starts to ache and stress urinary incontinence happens. Then it is a matter of performing gymnastics to get the bloody sponge out - and it is bloody due to delicate post-menopausal tissues.

Today I can’t imagine resorting to such measures, but prefer to be careful to not spend too much time reading in bed or embroidering on the couch, and keep my spine strong and supple with the WW work.

I hope there is something here you can use. The cervix should at least be inside the labia at all times and I do hope you can get to that point. Several rounds of belly tosses over the course of an hour will move the uterus forward. There is no mystery here, it’s just what the body does with proper breathing and exercise.

Wishing you well,

Christine

Thank you Christine for your quick reply and helpful tips. I have tried Honey in the past but found it seemed to make things even more inflamed which I was always sad about because I know that a lot of ladies have found it to be a great help. I have seen 3 Drs. 2 of which were Surgeons about my prolapse, in the past, and each one said it was something different so it doesn't give me much faith in the system. One said prolapsed Uterus, another said it was the Bladder and the third just last week said it was the Vaginal wall prolapse, different answers to the same prolapse question. I do the deep breathing into my stomach and some Yoga moves that I remember from having done Yoga in the past, I do push my prolapse back several times in the day and like I said it has only recently started to get red looking. I will give the Honey another try though. I do try to stand in posture but because of my Scoliosis and Osteoporosis of my spine I find it hard to do.
Good Luck to you Christine and grateful Thanks for all your work that you do for all of us.
Daphne.
