Large cervix and severe prolapse

Body:

My doctor has diagnosed me with a prolapse and she said I have a very large cervix. I am uncomfortable two weeks out of the month with the organs hanging down through the vaginal canal. I have read the book Saving the Whole Woman and I have the DVD. I have been doing the exercises(not every day)I try to do them every other day. I am trying to eat well and stay in shape but I am very discouraged. Is surgery my only true option. I am almost 48 and I have a 13 year old daughter who likes to shop. This condition is painful when standing and walking and just plain being on my feet for too long most of the month. Does anyone have suggestions? I want my quality of life to be better.

Hi Linda,

Surgery is a terrible option. If you are seriously searching for a non-surgical approach to prolapse I would:

• Gently push your cervix up as far as you can reach, morning and night

• Pull yourself into the Whole Woman Posture every time you are on your feet and during as much sitting as possible

• Practice Whole Woman Firebreathing (instructions in book)

• Increase living foods

• Discontinue all straining on the toilet (lift off the seat for any increases in pressure)

• Model healthy female posture and lifestyle for your teenage daughter.

There is a HUGE need to learn more about the connections between D&Cs, heavy uterine bleeding, adenomysis, and the uterus’ ability to decongest itself, given the right conditions. Some believe scraping the inside of the uterus, a procedure almost all of us endure at least once during our reproductive years, causes the endometrial cells to mix in with deeper, myometrial cells. This thicker layer is then subject to the proliferative stage of the menstrual cycle, becoming unnaturally engorged and resulting in heavy, painful periods. I believe the sometimes shocking menstrual “flooding” commonly reported by women is the uterus actually performing a natural decongestive process.

I had a very large and heavy cervix, experienced dramatic flooding on two occasions (the first time far more extreme than the second) after which my uterus pulled up inside, never to regain its previous size. I don’t have a prescription or silver bullet to cause such a thing to occur, only the suggestion that the body is deeply capable of self-healing…perhaps the uterus even moreso than many other organs.

Wishing you well,

Christine

Hi,
Some of us use a pessary, others have found the instead soft cups give them relief, some have used the sea sponge,(purchased from a health food store not a hobby shop), and then there is the fembrace and the v2 support belt. The fembrace and the v2 belt give external support. There are some recent posts about the instead soft cups and the v2 support belt. If you click on recent posts and scroll down you will find some of the posts or go to the search engine and type in what you are interested in and it should take you to these posts.
The posture standing and sitting help quite a bit and usually helps improve the prolapse. It takes time but once you use it I'm sure you will feel more comfortable.
Welcome to the forum and ask as many questions as you need to.
Take care,
Flora

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I am currently working on my posture and I am doing the exercises each evening. I plan to try the softcups. I have never had a D&C, just gave birth to three large babies. I feel like I might have accidentally encouraged the prolapse with our weight machine. I stopped that a long time ago and have really just been doing the exercises on the VCR tape(which I love the overall feeling on my body) It feels good head to toe.

Sorry for the tangent…glad you haven’t had the inside of your uterus rearranged. I really believe all these suggestions are the best we can do…sometimes we just need a little support and inspiration along the way.

It sounds like you are dealing with a good bit of discomfort and that's hard. Very hard. and, can be discouraging. I know we all differ in degrees of symptoms, but I want to encourage you to give the program a try. I came here a year ago just despondent after giving birth to my 3rd child and discovering prolapse. I have to tell you that my quality of life is much much better than it was then, and to tell the truth, better than it was before. I was afraid everything was going to fall out. Now, although I do have days during the month where I feel more fullness than others, it doesn't really affect my activity level very much. I run, play with my kids, run up and down the stairs, carry my toddler, pick up my 50 pound 5 year old, give piggybacks to the 8 year old, etc. I never would have done these things a year ago. I was very very careful about my symptoms.

I highly recommend you get a copy of the new edition of the book both for the updates and especially for the new workout. While I love the exercises from the previous edition, the new workout is fabulous, and I see it gradually retraining my entire body. Everything is pulled up after doing the workout.
