Cleanse/ Detox for prolapse

Body:

Hi

Well it's a few week's since i did my ayurveda detox and i think i made a big mistake for various reason's and if anyone can learn from my ignorance at least there's some benifit out of it and i can feel less like a doofus:)

I chose my ayurvedic style detox from vad lasant's book and read three other ayurveda books in preperation. Since i've finished i've been sick with bad cold's, had a really bad painfull very short menstruation, and finally severe acute pantar fasciatis (sole of foot severe pain) and tendonitis out of absolutely no-where, with some sort of exhaustion for four day's.

I took a lot of herbs and immune booster's and still took ten day's till i could walk one block properly. Not good.

My acupuncturist said i'm in a much more weakened state and as a ex-teacher worked on me for two hours and fifteen minutes till i could stand pain free.

I don't really have many health things and i'm in my early thirties so this was definatly out of the blue.

I said to him that i had trusted this cleanse as it's about 4000 years old etc, and he replied that weakened pple who are deficient types shouldn't do these cleanses and all serious cleanses have be done with someone monitering you - reading a few book's doesn't count.

I had read the weakened thing - but thought ok weak means really sickly types not just sorta pale, sorta tired, thin pple. (in the ayurveda books and paul pitchford "healing with whoe food")

Plus, since then i've noticed the people in my shcool who've done cleanses (a acupuncture school) all look really tired and depleted afterwards and many have sworn off them after getting things like serious kidney disorder's afterwards.

So outsede of the robust overheated strong types - plus with supervision, i don't think they're a great idea any more.

Just my (new) opinion.

Hey Anne-helen:

First of all, I hope you are taking good care of yourself to restore yourself properly. I think cleanses can be tricky and have danced close to doing them on occasion, but, ulitmately, something always held me back. Perhaps part of it was feeling as though I really didn't have the ability to hibernate during the process which is the only way I could ever have imagined doing it, but also part of it was the idea of removing the fuel of food out of my life, even for a few days. Yikes! And I tend to be one of those overheated, robust constitutional people! But it just never felt quite right for me personally.

Anyways, no doubt with acunpuncture and good self care, the feeling of depletion will pass and you will feel better soon. And it certainly sounds like a really important lesson was learned that I know I, for one, enormously appreciate you passing on. I think no extreme health regimine should be undertaken lightly -- even one that has a 4,000 year old history. Times (and people's chemical bodies) were probably quite different then. : )

Take care of yourself and enjoy some fantastic spring vegetables and naps, will you?

I hope you get back to your usual self soon, and thanks for passing along that valuable lesson. who'd have thought it would wipe you out like that? I guess it proves that a cleanse is a powerful tool, but like everything else should be used selectively.

feel better soon!

I've been doing the Colonix program. It is very gentle on the system, no cramps or pains. My husband sees a natural doctor, with an M.D. and he recommended it to him. So, I thought I'd give it a try. So far, so good. If you're interested, they have a very detailed website with lots of testimonials. www.drnatura.com
