Sponge/ Vaginal Dryness

Body:

I wasn't quite sure where to post this question, but I'm thinking it will sit here as well as anywhere...

I just ordered a set of sea sponges this afternoon after reading a number of posts from satisfied users. Obviously, I'm hoping for the same positive results, but it did get me to thinking...Since sponges are absorbent, and since I'm menopausal and likely experiencing some degree of vaginal dryness, as Judy touched upon in her welcome (thanks for that heads-up, Judy), would using a sponge make me even dryer and/or cancel out any benefits I might gain from using a moisturizer like Replens (and therefore waste)? BTW, I tried my first application of Replens a couple of days ago (Thanks to Mae's praise).

Hmmm, it just occurred to me, being that the sponge is to be soaked and then wrung out before insertion (correct?), perhaps that would prevent it from becoming a drying agent?... but it still leaves the question as to whether it might absorb any applied moisturizer (Replens)?...

As always, thanks for your insights on this.

You dear soul, you gave me a smile that will last a week. People are
going to be questioning me! LOL Kit, what are you smiling about???
Oh, I'm sure I will laugh out loud at odd times this week.

You are so bad, Louise, in such a beautiful fun way! Thank you!

Now, I must go and tear my house apart! Kit

LOLOL - Ah, Louise, this initial report has my eyes a leaking! ~ : D Except for the dampness it sounds rather uneventful so far... Oh, but that's purely from my perspective, kiddo, as I'm sure it was most likely quite eventful from your and the Mr's perspective! Carry on (of course).

Move, breathe and be good

Sponges are moistened before insertion and will not dry out in the vagina. Jade & Pearl sells larger sea sponges specifically for pelvic organ prolapse. Our users report great results and improved quality of life.

Dear jadeandpearl:
Per your email to me of 3/10/09 "dear goldfinch, you should try Jade & Pearls sea sponge tampons for
Prolapse. They are a natural, comfortable alternative to a conventional pessary. economical too!"

I am 60 years old and have had a uterine prolapse for 2 1/2 years. I have tried conventional tampons and have also purchased your sea sponges. Neither will hold up my prolapse. IF I place 'enough' in my vagina to push up and hold up my cervix for a short period of time, my cystocele comes down in it's place. Tampons and sea sponges therefore are useless in my situation. Believe me, I would much rather have my cervix low than deal with a cystocele pushing out of my vagina. My cervix acts as 'nature's pessary' holding back my cystocele and my rectocele. I go day to day without even thinking about or feeling my prolapse. I stay in posture and most of the time don't even know that it's there.

Thank you anyhow for your email. Maybe someone else can benefit from your tampons.

Sincerely,
Goldfinch

Methinks J&P was on a sales rush or something (LOLOL) As I also got a message from them saying...

sea sponges will definitely not cause damage to a pop. They are soft and
textured like the vaginal wall.

I don't remember asking that Question to be honest as I have previously purchased from J&P about three years ago...

I think the POPs of different people respond to different things - Or... At first one thing might help - Then as time goes on you might no longer need that thing for help (I no longer need the sponges, though they were very comfy once I got the hang of them back then)

:-)

Love the feed and feel at home here - you ladies are wonderful! I purchased my first sponge this week and have a question on the trimming. They said not to cut it in half, but to trim it. Has anyone trimmed it to about 3/4 of the original size. I used to walk for exercise with my family, but with the big bulge I had to stop halfway and return home. Using the sponge I actually made it the full mile. Still feeling lots of pressure and not sure if it is the sponge or the prolapse pressure. It is nice to walk in the WW posture as well. I view the sponge as an assist and not for long term. :) Found Lady
