Just Found This Site

Body:

Just found this site thru a link on the Dr. Oz site. I've had a prolapsed bladder for years (I guess!). Probably 10 years(I'm 56 now and went thru menopause at 45) ago my GP told me some day I'd need to have it "tacked back up". It really hasn't been mentioned much in the ensuing years from the different doctors I've seen (I've moved several times....hate breaking in a new dr!). Two years ago (after moving again) I saw an ob/gyn who told me I had a stage 4 prolapse and didn't elaborate at all. At that time I had a uti so he referred me to a urologist. The urologist didn't really say anything about it either. Last year for my routine appt, I saw a nurse practitioner (liked her a WHOLE lot better...at least she sat down and LISTENED) who asked me when I was going to get it fixed. Well, it doesn't bother me, I don't have problems with incontinence and the urologist did the test where they see if you have problems emptying your bladder and I don't, and it doesn't interfere with sex (been married 30 years). I do use Vagifem twice a week, but haven't ever used any hormone replacement. I have my "yearly" in a couple of weeks and I'm sure she'll mention it again. I'm thinking the exercises/posture in the dvd could help....so I probably should order it.

Welcome Sylvia - glad you found your way here. Absolutely order the DVD and start incorporating the posture (and other things) into your life now....before things start to bother you more. I myself am partial to the book, so get both if you can (it just fits better into my lifestyle....and it contains a TON of information that you will return to again and again).

Hi sylvia
doctors know only what they know,, because i got mine fixed, I now have a grapefruit sized prolapse unless i wear my pessary. There are consequences of sewing flesh to flesh ....muscles can be repaired if they haven't been cut thru...Diet, exercise, posture are better- "posture before pessary, pessary before surgery"

Hi Sylvia

So glad you have found us. I am sure we can help you fine tune the management of your pelvic organ prolapses. You can search the Forums for particular topics you are interested in.

I am fascinated that you found a link on Dr Oz' website. How did you find it? I wonder if it is still there? I just had a look at the site and couldn't find any Links section. Can you help me to find it please? I did view the videos on pelvic organ prolapse, but no Links were there. His videos are certainly a lot more conservative (in the real sense) than they used to be. There is very little detail or emphasis on surgical solutions like I remember in the past. They even showed a ring with support type pessary!

Hope to hear more from you. These Wholewoman techniques really work, given time and perseverence.

Well, not sure exactly where I saw it on his site. I went thru quite a few pages of Q&A's on bladder stuff and saw this....link or ad?....clicked on it which took me to an article by Christine which had the www for her site.

hi all, found this site a couple days ago. I am very recent to bladder prolapse. I have ordered DVD and book. I am in Australia and am eager to learn about ww posture, can someone explain what this is as I am on my feet 12 hours a day. Makes for a very tired body by the end of the day.

Here is a quick version of the posture. Someone else will chime in I'm sure. Stand with feet facing forward. Relax lower belly and allow lower spine to curve naturally (total opposite of the "stomach pulled in and butt tucked under" way that we are taught all our lives!). Pull chest up. Shoulders are down, but not pulled back. Don't stick out your chin....maybe down a little. Keep that belly relaxed and breathe through your nose, expanding the belly (not your ribcage) as you breathe. Hope I didn't forget anything. Good luck! Takes practice to remember all this, but it feels right once you get there.

Thank you for the posture reply. I can now get started while I wait for the postman to bring my book and DVD. Much appreciated.
