We are going to be launching a site for my dhs business and I'm learing about search engine optimization. Basically, it's complicated like you say, but WW seems like it could pop up higher than that (as far as -ww pages have on their pages what is needed and has high traffic).
and do it at the public library, cause your personal computer knows you and will pop it up higher up than a public computer would! weird right?

Christine and I were just talking about this. I appears WW pops up somewhere on the 11th page of Google. I'm on it!

I typed in 'prolapse' on google and WW was second on the list - first was Kegel8!!

Yes, I get that sort of result too. That is because of what Alemama was talking about. Searching on your own computer doesn't reflect the same search results as searching on a computer that doesn't visit WW website frequently. Your own computer 'knows' what sort of things you want to come up on the first page, because of your browsing history and other internet habits. That's what Cookies are about. Creepy, eh?

We want WW to come up on the first page of any search that any woman does from any computer.

It's confusing, isn't it? It can be a pain because if I look for something totally different, that I know will be out there somewhere, sometimes I don't get any relevant hits at all. Google thinks (possibly rightly) that I am obsessed with women's health issues. I used to get ads about dating. Now, several years later all I get is the crazy "55 year old looks 30 with one weird old trick. Cosmetic surgeons hate her" variety. Wha?????

Anyone have experience adding info on wikipedia?

I found this under therapy for vaginal prolapse on wikipedia:

Yes, silly me, I do see what you mean, I didn't realise that's what happened. The only thing is that the very first time I googled (and I remember it well) 'prolapsed uterus' back in April, Whole Woman was definitely on the first page, maybe I was just lucky.

I did check all this info some time ago and thought it could do with considerable improvement. I did investigate how to go about editing Wikipedia and it all sounded quite complicated because authors of the existing information are, I think, informed of edits, and can undo them. I tried contacting a couple of authors and received no response. It is not a straightforward process, but I think it is worth doing because many people seem to use Wikipedia as a 'let's see what ordinary people say about it' source of information.

It would be great if you could take on as a project getting some articles updated with WW information in there as well. How about starting off with the one you have found and see how you go? As with all voluntary projects there is no need to put a big lump of your life into it, but chipping away at Wikipedia articles would be worthwhile.
