Update and More

Body:

First, I want to say thank you to Christine and the other wonderful women here who took the time to listen and respond with me. I had my last apointment with yet another urogynecologist this past week. I explained to her that I was going to continue to use non-surgurical means of manageing and healing my prolapse. I very rudely told that there is no way to heal or non-surgically manage prolase on my own and to come back when my bottom falls out. Not exactly in those words of course but you get the point.

I have just finished reading "saving the Whole Woman." Christine I am very grateful for all of the research you have done and your willingness to share that valuable information with other woman. I will treasure this book. I strongly agree with that the western way of living has contributed to prolapse and no doubt, many other conditions that us westerners tend to suffer from. I have begun to practice a more natural posture. I admit, it is very difficult no to revert to my old ways but I go on. Even though I am no longer horrificly afflicted by vulvodynia the memory is still so fresh in my body and mind that I am still somewhat scared to sit on my bottom in fear of worsening my condition or creating a relapse. however, I realize those fears are unjustified. I noticed significant improvement in my prolase as well as my vulvar and vaginal comfort since sitting and begining to hold my body in the correct way. Thank you for showing me this, it has become invaulable to me and I greatly appreciate it.

Although I still have that heavy pulling down sensation for the most part of the day, I am begining to noticed that there are hours in the day where I no longer have that feeling. that may not seem like much but to me, it's a wonderful and promising start. Also, for the most part I am no longer able to feeling my rectum bulging into the top art of my vagina when I feel inside of my vagina. Now I usually only feel it before I have a bowel movement. That is a great relief to me. I was so scared my rectum was was going to completely collapse into my vagina. Now I am begining to believe that I am not doomed to suffer that condition forever.

Another thought I have about living a more batural lifestyle. Those of you who have not taken up Christine's suggestions about diet I strongly urge you to. I have been a vegetarian for over 5 years now and although doctor have tried to tell me that my vaginal and vulvar health and been damaged because of this, I strongly disagree. I do not buy into our cultural belief that every meal must center around animal roducts and bi-products. Your mind, body and over health willl thank you greatly for eating a more natural diet consisting of fresh organic leafy green, nuts, beans, fruits and whole grains. I believe this would greatly help woth women who suffer from bowel problems.

I also have another suggestion in addition to the wonderful suggestions Christine has presented in her book. If you have not looked into belly dancing you might want to. I would suggest you be careful and listen to you body though. Basic belly dancing moves if done properly are very strenghtening to the pelvis. These movements offer wonderful hip stretches and strengthening moves which may aid in your healing. However, i must warn you to be careful, although the moves can be very healing, they can also be damaging if one tries to do too much or does not properly do the movement.

Lastly, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any other books to read or things in general that may help my prolapse or pelvic health in general. Thank you and take care!!

How wonderful that you are doing better. Thankfully, Christine has helped so many of us. Oh, I'm sure there will still be women who believe that you should never go against what a doctor says, and will blindly do whatever they are told. I feel so sad for them.
It really sounds like you are feeling better.I'm so glad for you..
As far as any ideas I may have, it sounds like you are doing everything possible. The only thing I can recommend is possibly adding Bromelain as an enzyme supplement. I discovered it a few years ago when experiencing a flare-up of IBS, and found that it is a superb anti-inflammatory, as well as a digestive enzyme and blood thinner among other things. I've done a lot of research on it,and am including a few of the websites with info about it.

I really think it has helped my prolapses, especially the rectocele. it keeps the stool soft and acts like the mildest laxative. If there is any inflammation at all in the pelvic floor, I feel that it will help. Of course, that it only my experience with it, but it is extremely safe to take, so there shouldn't be any worries.
I also take Cat's Claw every day. It's from the Peruvian rainforest and has the ability to detoxify the intestinal tract, pancreas, spleen, uterus, etc. It also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Gee, I sound like a commercial for these products, but they have helped me a great deal. I had stopped taking them for a long time, but when my prolapses occurred, I started up again, and feel a definite difference in just a few weeks.
Good luck to you and hope things keep improving..
