Carrying my baby

Body:

Hi, everyone!

I posted my concern a couple of months ago. Quick summary, I got a serious tear that has been left unrepaired. Tore through my sphincter, no incontinence problems so far at 6 months postpartum. Tear has improved since birth, but have too little perineum left. Have been so afraid I might get a prolapse because of tear so have been trying my best to adapt the WW posture for 3 months now.

Anyway my question is regarding heavy lifting. I haven't been diagnosed with a prolapse, rectocele or cytocele, but mainly it was because I did not go back to my OB after my 2-week postpartum check up. I was just too scared of more bad news. After my check up, she warned me about heavy lifting, and that when my baby gets heavier I should stop carrying him. :( Sorry, but it would just be super impossible not to carry my baby. I have a husband who carries him lots of times, of course, but I don't think I can ever live with not carrying him. :( He's 6 months now has definitely gotten A LOT heavier since birth. Should I get checked to confirm prolapse or if I'm "deteriorating," or just let it be? I'm just so scared right now. Thanks for any advice. :)

P.S. My OB did not assist my birth. I just came to her for a postpartum check.

This is one of those questions that tends to come up on the forum about every couple of days! So listen up, everyone. When you are carrying extra weight close to your body, in excellent WW posture, you are actually improving the dynamics of pelvic organ support. In correct posture, the extra weight-loading from above helps to flatten and close off the vagina against the encroaching organs. So please carry your baby. Keep the load as evenly distributed as you can. Take care when lifting to keep the load close and lumbar curvature in place. Keep studying this work! - Surviving

I would think that going to the doctor would give you some peace of mind to know what is going on. You don't have to have surgery if recommended, but you can find out if you are healing or if the situation is worse.
Would putting vitamin E on the area help?

Here is the original post about the perineal tear where Christine gives some really great advice:

Getting those organs away from the vagina and up into the lower belly is going to also take the pressure off the perineum as well. Those of us with little perineum left can benefit from Christine's words on the subject in that post. And, as surviving has all ready pointed out, carrying baby in strong whole woman posture can only benefit even more.
