Help with cystocele self-diagnosis?

Body:

I'm in my mid 20s, healthy, eat well, into exercise, no kids... but was suffering from feelings of needing to urinate often (this has always been a bit of an issue for me but more aggravated this year), and of general 'heaviness'/something not quite right down there. ANYWAY, I discovered that prolapse can happen - it wasn't even on my radar! - so decided to do some looking into symptoms and eventually did a self exam - basically, feeling inside myself. To my horror, there seems to be a long, firmish bulge from start of vaginal entrance going up front wall. I've booked a doctors, but wont see her for weeks still, sadly, and I've been stressing like crazy about this and how it will affect my life...

Can I ask those of you with cystocele, does this sound like one to you? I feel it regardless of whether standing, sitting or lieing down, with out much difference. It's not really something I can move around either, but is definite bulge.

I've done some crazy heavy lifting from travel over the years, and my hormones have been a bit out of whack in the past... but still, have always assumed had strong pelvic muscles due to engaging core from pelvic floor upwards when doing exercise in past.

So, basically, is this a familiar physical feeling on self exam for those out there with cystocele? And any words of advice/ comfort/success stories ?!

Hello octoberpluto3 and welcome,
Of course we would have no way of knowing exactly what you have, but from your description, it does sound like a cystocele. Whatever you have going on there, the solution is the same, getting your body into strong whole woman posture so your pelvic organs are moving into the lower belly and out of the vaginal space. Christine's Saving the Whole Woman book and First Aid for prolapse DVD are the best places to start, although there are many other options in the whole woman store.
Keep reading around this site and come back here with any more questions you may have.

thanks for the reply. I have definitely switched up my posture and think this is amazing supportive forum!

Stupid question, but is there ANY chance I am feeling pelvic bone through front wall? that is makes a sort of soft-firm seeming protrusion from low in vagina?

Well, yes if you press hard enough, you are going to be feeling your pubic bones. Here is the prolapse self exam:

This comes right out of the Saving the Whole Woman book along with lots of other great information to get you on your way.

As far as posture goes, I am talking about the whole woman posture, and the best way to learn this along with all the other great tips and techniques that are so helpful with prolapse is through Christine Kent's work. Please check it out. A more thorough study of this work brings on the greatest understanding of it and what you are going through.

Hi octoberpluto3,

It is unclear from the description but it looks like cyctocele. learning the Posture is important....

Hi Octoberpluto - there is a big red flag in your post....."strong pelvic muscles due to engaging core from pelvic floor upwards when doing exercise in past". This, along with lots of llifting in incorrect posture, most definitely contributed to the onset of prolapse. Traditional systems of exercise and fitness are one of the biggest reasons we have such an epidemic of prolapse today. I would get started on the Whole Woman postural work right now today, while you are young and can do a great deal to reverse it by restoring natural spinal shape and the pelvic organ support it provides. Best of luck to you and feel free to ask anything here. - Surviving
