Rectocele

Body:

I have a 3cm rectocele with intussuception stage 3 diagnosed on proctogram.

I am in the Uk and discovered this site last week.

I am under a teaching hospital with a specialist unit.

They had taught me to splint which I haven't liked a great deal.

I got the posture video and toileting video which I have found very helpful, but like one of the other ladies on the forum I had to splint as well, wasn't too sure about the posture but have read Christine's comment so think I understand now.

My main problem is that my constipation seems to vary I am starting to go through the menopause and some of it seems hormonal related.

I also have little sensation of wanting to poo so having had breakfast I just go and sit on the loo.

I eat a very healthy diet, exercise etc so fibre isn't the problem.

The consultant wanted me to try Resolor (prucalopride), which I am reluctant too having read about some of the adverse side effects.

Some days no problem other times hard to go.

Any suggestions welcomed!

Hi Irishgirl and welcome,
It sounds you are onto a good start with whole woman, just remember that it takes time to change out lumbar curvature and pull our organs into a better position. That includes pulling the rectum toward the lower belly also, which will help with those pesky symptoms so you won't have to splint as often as you do now.
I am not one for drugs when it comes to constipation, so wouldn't suggest you should use them.
You could try the magnisium for the short term as you work on you diet for the constipation. It took me time to fine tune my diet after years of constipation.
Just keep up the good work, it sounds like you have a handle on this.

There is an excellent WW practitioner in the UK, and you might consider contacting her (see WW practitioners in the tabs at the top of this page) and setting up a visit. She can get you off to a good start on your journey.
