When I first “cracked the code” on stabilizing and reversing prolapse, and wrote and published Saving the Whole Woman, I set up this forum. While I had finally gotten my own severe uterine prolapse under control with the knowledge I had gained, I didn’t actually know if I could teach other women to do for themselves what I had done for my condition.
So I just started teaching women on this forum. Within weeks, the women started writing back, “It’s working! I can feel the difference!”
From that moment on, the forum became the hub of the Whole Woman Community. Unfortunately, spammers also discovered the forum, along with the thousands of women we had been helping. The level of spamming became so intolerable and time-consuming, we regretfully took the forum down.
Technology never sleeps, however, and we have better tools today for controlling spam than we did just a few years ago. So I am very excited and pleased to bring the forum back online.

RE: keeglemaster?
Dear Loralie,
Your inquiry gives me yet another chance to expound upon the principles we are working with here at Whole Woman.
The singular focus gynecologists made of the pelvic floor has been in large part a wild goose chase. Doctors of yore observed that the organs were falling through the genital hiatus, or split in the pelvic floor musculature, and therefore assumed muscle weakness (and stretched

RE: keeglemaster?
Christine,
Thank you. I just read your response and the description of the box is a very good one. As soon as you described the box tipping on its side, before you even said the rest, i could imagine the box falling back so that the "bottom" was on the floor and left open for things to fall out. This confirms the imagines i've had from other descriptions you've provided ... and i know i am on the right track with posture. You know what? When I forget about the right posture, my own tailbone quickly reminds me because it becomes sore. i then lift my tailbone, putting the "box" back in the right position. here is my next question: while working most on natural posture, is there still a benefit to also strenthening the pelvic floor? and, if so, do any of the gimmicks (like keeglemaster) provide any advantage in progressing with the exercises?
thanks again

RE: keeglemaster?
I do not know of the keeglemaster. But I use a weight called the fpt. I use it in coordination with Christine's methods for a couple of reasons. First, doing it for 5 min a day 3 days a week reminds me to care for myself and that area. Second, I do feel it gives me temporary relief for my rectocele. It sort of puts everything back where it belongs, I imagine like the seasponge does (though obviously you leave the sponge in and the weight is only used during tha time). Third, my thinking is (which could be in error) that if there is nerve issues from my births that perhaps focusing on that area and stimulating it with contractions may help reconnect nerves or reactivate them.
I believe Christine's stance has been to listen to our bodies and if something works, do it. This is working for me and my body seems to respond. Combined with the posture and other exercises in the video and book I feel I'm addressing all sides of the box. Now, just to get my diet in line...

Thank you for your response. :)

RE: keeglemaster?
Loralie,
If the keeglemaster works as I think it does--by resistance--I really think I would have prefered it to the fpt-- I'm trying to recall what that stands for-- feminine personal trainer. The fpt is a weight and its level of difficulty is created by moving from an incline postion--least difficult to an upright postion-- most difficult. I do a semi-reclined in the bath position and will not do the upright for fear that the weight might stress the bladder and make it worse. If the keglemaster "opens" pressing against canal and provides resistance as the contraction squeezes it together, I think that would be better than the weight. Had I not invested $90 in the fpt I would have gone with the kegal master-- again not as the cure, but just as another side of the box.
Hope that helps!

RE: keeglemaster?
Thank you Jane! I looked the fpt up on line and it also comes with lots of testimonials ... given your first suggestion, i was going to order a fpt instead of the kegelmaster ... now i'll look at both before deciding. I would be doing it for the same reason as you: i am doing the posture, and I just want to work on every angle possible.

Sex and uterine prolapse
Dear Christine,
I was diagnosed with uterine prolapse last June. My doctor recommended a vaginal hysterctomy. I haven't been back since.
I am apprehensive about this surgery. I also wanted to ask is it
safe to have sex with this condition. Thanks for any help you can
give me.

RE: I tried the keeglemaster
Hi,
I must be lucky, because I've been using the kegelmaster for 9 months and have strengthened my PC muscles to the point where I can hold a kegel contraction for a count of ten or more. I couldn't do this last year because the muscle was so weak. It hasn't made my cystocele any worse. I feel that my pelvic floor is in much better shape than last year and that I shouldn't need any surgery.
When I go for my pap I'll let everyone know of the results.
Thanks,
Joss

Hi Jocelyn,
As perhaps our only post-hysterectomy member, thank you for updating us on your progress. I know the posture wasn't working for you and am so glad you are finding success with kegels.

RE: Sex and uterine prolapse
Hi Angela
Hmmm, we must have been to the same gynaecologist. I got the same story, and said no thankyou too!
One of the reasons I said no thanks was that a lot of reading in preparation for that visit (thankyou Christine!) demonstrated that surgery would probably decrease the pleasure and/or introduce pain or discomfort with sex. There was no way I was going to take surgery as a first option thank you very much. He could stay well away from my pleasure bits while I tried some other techniques for managing prolapse.
In the last few weeks since I first found this site and took delivery of Christine's book and DVD I have learned to walk, sit and stand in a new way, with my butt stuck out, not tucked in, and walking taller. I definitely feel more female, less restrained and buttoned up, freer and more sensual (and guess what, probably more sexy as well).
Yes, sex is different now to how it was 30 years and three grownup babies ago; my vagina is not virginal and tight anymore, but have I learned some good tricks along the way?? You can use your imagination on that, but here are my rules for sex with prolapse.
Rule 1. Learn to empty your bladder *properly* before sex, so you can really relax and enjoy the whole experience.
Rule 2. Rewrite the sex books to suit yourselves, because e.g., your G spot has probably moved, and in a different sex position will have changed its location again! :-O
Rule 3. Keep your vulva as dry as possible to avoid chaffing and burn from stress incontinence-induced dampness. For me this has meant changing my knickers more frequently, and going without when I can.
Rule 4. Avoid removing too much pubic hair around your vulva (sorry if this is TMI) so that you don't get chaffed between your labia. Maybe pubic hair has a protective function after all.
I am also going to try making myself 'boxer shorts' in silk and fine cotton, cut on the bias so that they hang loosely more like a skirt or trouser lining than lycra knickers. My vulva is now very close to my anus (this really is TMI, isn't it). Hopefully it will move back up a bit in time. In the meantime my boxers may help with hygeine (for avoiding urinary tract infections and thrush etc.) and keeping any dampness away from my vulva. Has anybody else had any thoughts on this?
Hope these ideas are some help, Angela.

RE: I tried the keeglemaster
I tried this about six months ago.
I was also very much impressed with all the testimonials on their site. doh!
But the instrument is a strange shape... it's got a sort of hard lip in it which makes it pretty hard to get in and out when there's added tissue in the vagina.
I used it only once as I hadn't expected it to have that wierd design feature. And now i think that this isn't the way to go any more anyways, (armed with all my whole woman info)

I think this device should probably be retired into the same creepy museum as forceps and the e-stim machine!

RE: I tried the keeglemaster
I agree wholeheartedly! The gadget made me feel sort of weird and freakish. I found this site when I first started using the Kegelmaster and wrote in about my success. However, after I had gradulated to the 3rd pin setting, my cystocele appeared to worsen
:( . I also started to feel like I was getting an infections while using it. I am so happy I found this site, utilizing the posture every day and using the sea sponges when I am standing a lot has helped wonders! I guess the KM really was a marketing gimmick after all. Shame on them!
