pregnancy band

Body:

Although I am not pregnant, I bought an elastic band that is designed to be worn when you are pregnant. I was hoping it would help lift my stomach and keep some of the pressure off my prolapse.
It is worn high on the back and below the abdomen. Will this help or does it push the womb backward? I could not afford the v-brace. I got this elastic band at Wal-Mart.

Hi Jane,

I think this would be good to experiment with. The Mayan Massage folks use a similar band worn just above the pubic bone, and this is the level I belt my clothing. It may be insignificant, but the round ligaments come off the front of the uterus, run alongside the inguinal canal (what we know as our groin) and then embed into the labia on either side. Cinching at this level may provide them some support, but be careful the band is not too tight.
