My Horrific Story

Body:

Dear Christine,

I'm going to try to make this as short and as succinct as possible. I survived a double mastectomy and chemotherapy after spending four years at a well known cancer hospital. After that, I had colon cancer induced by the chemo which I cured by refusing conventional care and going alternative. Unfortunately, I have long term side effects both from the surgeries and chemo, including lymphedema of both arms due to the surgeon removing lymph nodes from my arm pits. During the mastectomies, they scraped the meat from atop the muscles on my chest, meaning they nearly destroyed the fascia there and I have lots of scar tissue that pulls me forward. They also dislocated my shoulder during surgery and I am pulled forward, and down at an angle from my right shoulder to the left side of my hips. I've had many issues to deal with, both physically and mentally. Not the least of which, was my anger and the condition I was left in.

I was told July 5 that I now have a prolapsed bladder and was absolutely devastated to discover I had another issue to deal with. Surgery? No way, no thank you, not even! I noticed before I found your website, that if I pulled my self upwards, the pain in my lower back went away. I am going for pelvic floor therapy which I cannot see really helping me once a week. I've been to enough therapists and know my body well enough to know what works and what doesn't. I have tried to download your "healing posture" but the server won't let me have it. I now have truncal lymphedema which pools in my abdomen and puts pressure on the bladder. I did try to use the restroom in the position you mentioned, but cannot do it because of my arms. In fact, I can't do a lot of things because of my arms--very frustrating!! I have always been a busy person and have refused to sit down during all of this. I can no longer work at a regular job and now have an online business in Certified Organic Products that keeps me at the computer and I am so uncomfortable. Doesn't matter which way I sit, I hurt. I really do need a comfortable way to sit at the computer so I can make a living!

As soon as all the horror started with me, I started researching cancer and chemo, then organics. I've spent eight years in research and I would simply like to pass on to everyone to eat organic food. The amount of chemicals in our food is totally detrimental to the health of all of us and our children. Search for certified organic labels. Also, I saw where you are going to make clothes out of cotton. There is a large industry of organic cotton, but I don't have the website in mind right now. I can answer a lot of questions on organics and will be glad to do so.

Thank you for this website, and thank all you lovely ladies for sharing your stories so the rest of us out here truly have a place to go without having to deal with those who think "alternative" is a dirty word.

Grandma Joy

Dear Joy,

My sense of faith in the human spirit is reinforced after reading your beautiful letter. Thank you for reminding us that it

Grandma Joy, First of all, welcome here! I am horrified by your letter! To think that the medical profession can do all these things to women and get away with it! Why? Some of these people must be female also! How would they like it if the tables were turned and they would be on the operating table?
Well enough, and let's get on with other subjects! I use something similar to the Hag Balans kneeling chair. Try online "Norwegian Balans Chairs"? I just gave the website to another lady days ago. Do you remember the computer chairs with the knee area that came out 15 years ago or so? This is what I have and although I got mine at the goodwill store this past spring, it helps with the posture quite a bit! I also had trouble downloading the posture but finally got it after several tries. Stick your butt out a little and slightly bend your knees, and definitely get the video and book that Christine sells. Video is very desciptive of all exercises, etc! I have only been a member since April and was scheduled for surgery in May, but have since cancelled. Everyone here is just wonderful, and all of us will help in different ways. Hang in here and learn! I'm 61, and feeling a lot better since I first came here, and I'm sure you'll love it here. Talk later, Nancy

Thank you Nancy and Christine for your replies. I do so appreciate them. I'm re-reading a lot of posts trying to find the sea sponges. I did try Fem-Care and the link was broken. Are these Sea Sponges the same ones women use for their menstrual cycle? I did find one on the net called Jade&Pearl in Florida @ 2 for $8.00. Is that what I want?

Also, I have read so many posts tonight and don't think I retained any of the info. Has any woman here actually moved the bladder back into position using the posturing? And can it be done if the ligaments are stretched? How can anyone tell if the ligaments are stretched?

Thank you,
Grandma Joy

Yes, Grandma Joy, those are the right sponges. I didn
