new to sight

Body:

Hi Everyone. I am new to communicating on websites and this is my first time. I have rectocele and was diagnosis last year. My Gyn put me on estrace cream to insert 4-5 times a week. I am 62 years young. I am going through menopause and have not had a period in over a year. Was on hormones for 10 yrs. After the scare went off and tried the bioidentical but did not work for me. I went 6 month without hot flashes, night sweats, etc. but in the last 3 months have started all over again with these symptoms. My questions is could estrace be causing this? I just moved to another state and have not found a Gyn yet. I did get a 2nd opinion and was told it was my option about any surgery.
I am healthy, lift weights, walk, yoga and pilates...... I want to stop the estrace. Does anyone know if I need to go off it slow, like HRT. Any comments will be appreciated..........

Hi Maxxie,

I don't believe weaning off the estrogens is as important as other hormones such as corticosteroids, but do check with your doctor.

It's possible the exogenous estrogen is interfering with hormonal feedback loops, which include ones that adjust metabolic function.

Thanks for info Christine. I guess my question should have been. Has any one else used estrace cream for rectocele?

Also, I have never heard of the sea sponge. Has anyone used that for rectocele? What is the name of your book and are you a doctor?

I am not a doctor and dislike answering medical questions, but some things are common knowledge such as applied estrogen having no effect on prolapse of the vaginal walls. Prolapse is a structural problem (except in acute cases of obstetric injury) and is best addressed by changing the shape of the outer framework (spine and pelvis) from which the pelvic organs are suspended and also stopping all straining on the toilet.
