Have Finally Come To Terms

Body:

Dear Christine and all,

It has now been sometime since I posted my first message here and at the time I was scared, didn't really understand what my condition was and what my life would now hold for me, let alone whether or not I would still do the sports I love.

I did give up the breast feeding because my baby just weaned herself off (which was emotional too!) and have had my first period, which was scary because I thought my prolapse was getting worse! - You were right there Christine - talk about an up and down affair!

Well, I finally saw my Gyno and have a confirmed first degree uterine prolapse with slight rectocele and slight cystocele (he examined me literally the day before my first period in nineteen months - which was much heavier than normal so he saw me at my worst). I have been referred by him to their Pelvic Floor Physio, whom I am still waiting to see. However, he told me not to expect my pelvic floor to ever be the same as it was before this last baby.

I am seeing the chiropracter for my pelvis which had, become very unstable again but it has improved very quickly this time.
My acupunturist is going to try a treatment using electrons (like a tens) to stimulate the deeper muscles during the next treatment and I will let you know how that goes. It sounds very promising.
I am also learning pilates which I try to do daily and it seems to help a lot especially as I use the techniques during every day chores.

I read your book from cover to cover the moment it arrived and was very envious of your being able to take time out to heal, walking the beach etc. Wow! Some of your suggestions are very difficult to impliment in my busy family life, but it's all helpful. Certainly I have not been wearing a lot of tight jeans lately and have chosen comfy hipster style joggers instead.
I am constantly thinking posture now! At first it was VERY hard work but now I am uncomfortable if I do not have correct posture! Sitting cross legged on the floor is an absolute breeze! I have also devised some great butt workouts, following your advice.
In fact my figure seems to have improved tenfold even though I have cut down on going to the gym lately as I've been too busy to go!

I have decided NOT to have any more babies as I was never sure I wanted more anyway. The Gyno says if I did then I would become a good candidate for surgery!

All in all I am feeling a lot more positive about my condition, have stopped feeling so terrified that it is going to get worse and instead am taking charge to try and prevent it doing that.

Thanks for your advice at a time when I really needed it. Hopefully I will now be able to manage my condition to a level that I can comfortably live with.

Take care and thanks

Tracey

Hi Tracey!

So very glad to hear from you! I don't have much to add since it sounds like you are fully in charge of your condition. Yes!!

What you say about the posture is what I have worked to hard to convey...it does get so much easier and one day it becomes HARDER to slouch than to stand and sit correctly! Thank you.

One thing...find someone (if you don't sew) to make a pair of jeans for you that are very low in front and yet high in back. When worn with a belt, these tip the body right into the posture and are infinitely comfortable. WHat's more, they look so very cool because they speak to the female body in a way that Levi never could!

Bless you, Tracey and be Well,

Christine

Hi Tracey,
Great to hear from you. Thanks for the input on the Mayan massage. I'll look for the book. Also, I read your post on helping our daughters. I do believe it is so important to talk to our girls, all the young women in our lives and share our experience and knowledge. I want my girls to read Christine's book. And recent comments about how women perpetuate damage on women have touched me so deeply. It is so true and deeply ingrained in our culture. I pray we turn that around quickly and completely and communication with our daughters is critical for that as well.

You sound great and I'm so happy to hear it!
Peace, Karen

Christine,

That is a great idea about the jeans! I like it!

Just to let you know I am back running again 15 minutes twice a week and the back is holding up. I think it is so much stronger now I have better posture and my chiropracter is amazed.

Also I got my second period since stopping breastfeeding and had no idea it was coming, the dragging was much less this time! A lot better.

Also I started my belly dancing classes up last night and it was wonderful!! Really empowering stuff. All us women together.

I feel like a whole woman again!

Thank you for your support when I needed it.

Tracey.
