Nausea, lethargy, feeling really lousy

Body:

I am curious to know how many experience nausea, lethargy, food tasting really off, no appetite, just feeling really lousy when their prolapse first became intrusively evident. For me, things really worsened after a bad head cold followed by lots of coughing. But it's been weeks since I've been over the cold and the symptoms I mention are not going away. My urethacele (sp?) is terribly inflamed and burns at the touch. This seems to come and go, though mainly here to stay in the last few days. I am past menopause so dryness could be a great contributing factor.

I know I could get to feeling a lot better if I could get my appetite back and this nausea to go away. Anyone else experience this? Any solutions as to the cause or remedies to feel better?

I have been to the urologist and I didn't have a UTI, although my abdomen burns in that area when I am feeling at my worst. It was not acting up on the day of my visit, of course.

Thanks for any help. Kit

Dear Kit,

My gut feeling is that there may be something else going on aside from your prolapse but of course I don't know for sure. I would have said initially to get checked out for an infection as a bad one can definitely cause symptoms such as these, but you did already. My other gut feeling is that fairly severe symptoms such as these may indicate something systemic. It is NOT normal to feel nauseous all the time, tired, and to have no appetite, it's just not, unless the body is not up to par in some way. If it were me I would DEFINITELY get all of your symptoms checked out by another physician. I am a little surprised that your urologist didn't suggest a full work up for you with labs etc in view of your symptoms, (perhaps they did?)

Honestly though, I wouldn't leave this without trying hard to get an answer. Quite apart from anything, without eating and presumably drinking enough you are going to get malnourished and even sicker. I don't mean to sound dramatic and I am not of course a Dr but that is what I would do a.s.a.p!!

Hugs to you and I hope you feel better soon! xxx

I so hope you're right and it is something else, because I just can't feel like this for the rest of my life. There was so much to discuss that I believe I failed to mention these symptoms at my visit. The other was enough to occupy my time there. I just called and had a long talk with the nurse and told her how I was feeling. She is going to talk to the doctor and get back to me. They did not order any labs at my visit, perhaps they will now. If they don't and I don't get better soon, I'll visit an MD or perhaps a naturopath.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. Kit

Dear Kit,

I am so happy that you are continuing to seek answers to your symptoms and followed up with your urologist. The burning of the urethrocele may or may not be linked to your other symptoms but you certainly need to find out by following up with your physician. There are certainly some wierd and wonderful virus' around that can cause all kinds of strange things and of course G.I issues could be something to consider. (For not being a Dr I certainly have a lot if ideas Huh? :)

For the amount of time you have been dealing with this you deserve some investigation at the very least I think! Please let us know how you get on. I will be thinking of you in the meantime!

the symptoms you describe don't sound like 'prolapse symptoms' but rather like a systemic something else.
I hope you figure it out soon
