stool/chair suggestions

Body:

I would love to find a comfortable stool to use at my computer that encourages good posture. Anyone have suggestions, links, etc.?

Hi Michele,

They use good computer chairs at the Bridgeworks office...justhave to get the info...I'll get back to you...

...try... www.sit4less.com

Thanks, Christine. I like some of the options I see there. I am really hoping to find a 'stool-type' chair that would allow me to sit cross-legged or straddled much like you show in your book. Did you have yours custom made?

Last month I bought at 'holistic show' air pillow called "back vitalizer". It was recommended for people with arthritis but when I tried it I realized that my sitting posture improved right away. I use it at work and even in my car. I would not say it is very comfortable sit - it feels like sitting on the exercise ball, but it definitely gives you that curve in your spine. It is constricted very well and looks good. You can find it on http://www.perspectis.ca
Christine, what about 'kneel-sit' chairs like http://www.kneelsit.com Are they any good?

Thanks,

I have just checked the price on the 'kneel-sit' chair in the previous link and it is rather high. There others on the web: http://www.sitincomfort.com/kneechairs.html Are they any good?

Hi Paula,

Yes, a kneeling chair in front of your computer is excellent. I can't vouch for styles or models as I haven't shopped for them. My arrangement is different...I sit cross-legged or straddled on top of an old solid wooden wheel that legs were attached to. I think a kneeling chair would be better, but my computer table is rather high and this is what I'm used to.

Hope you find a good one!

Christine

Dear Michelle:

Beauticians use stools in their work. Here is a link for all types of adjustable rolling stools:
http:www.iowabeauty.com/html/stools.html or if that link doesn't work, go to www.iowabeauty.com and you can find a link on the site to go to their stools. Some of them look pretty good.

I got a kneeling chair at my local Staples store for $79.99. I ordered it on the internet and they delivered it to my home free.

Good luck in finding a chair. -Chris

Dear Michele:

I just received a catalog that has a really unique and great chair in it for only $70.00 from the Gaiam Company. Their web site is www.gaiam.com. The chair is called the "balanceball chair" and it looks like an exercise ball on casters. I will check their website to see if it's listed but I wanted to include this one because I just now found out about it. I'm happy with my kneeling chair but this one seems really neat. When I have the cash, maybe it would make a good dining room table chair for me....-Chris
