Warm sensations

Body:

Hi, has anyone, particularly anyone who has reached menopause, had sort of hot flushes in the vaginal area? I've been getting them lately and I wondered what caused them. I expect it is hormonal because I have been going through menopause for the last 3 years or so (it's been slow). It feels like your face does when you blush, except it's down there and there doesn't seem to be anything particular that sets it off.

The only time I have had that sensation is when they gave me IV radioactive stuff to do a scan of my heart and the stuff went all through my body but particularly centered in that area. The technician told me to expect it and said it was normal it happened all the time. Oh brother. Ha ha ha.... well I can see where hot flashes could do the same thing. For me the menopausal hot flashes were chest, shoulders and head more than anything.

Nice to get your reply. I guess it's not a very common thing to have. My sister in law has never had it and she's going through menopause too. I think it will pass, but I hope it is only a hormonal thing, and not something more sinister. My prolapse has been behaving OK lately although it has been lower on the odd day in the last week or two. I guess everyone is gearing up to Christmas. I still have so much to do, and working full time doesn't really give me enough time to do it all. Hope everyone here has a great Christmas and New Year.
Cheers,
Wendy

I can't say that I've experienced what you describe as a menopausal symptom. I think the only times I've experience vaginal warmth is during the more joyful times of using that part of my body.

I've had some pretty unpleasant sensations there over the last couple of years. Mostly burning sensation, and irritation that I've had to address.

My first thought would be that you are having hormonal fluctuations. Of course that is just a guess. Is it unpleasant? Miserable like a hot flash? Does it worry you? If not, perhaps you could just enjoy it? Yes, I look for brightness anywhere I can get it!!

There are products now on the market that produce the warmth sensation to heighten arousal. When I googled your question, lots of them came up.

Sorry I cannot be of more help. Kit

Laugh, it certainly isn't unpleasant but seems to have tapered off in the last day or so. As I am a solo mum without a partner, it could be the lack of sex that is causing it - maybe!! I sympathise with you re. the burning and irritation, that would be unpleasant. I have had the odd bout of thrush, including a really nasty one a couple of years ago that took it's time to go away, and thrush is bad enough. On the whole I think I have been lucky with menopause, I haven't had the really bad time that some women do. In fact, am quite glad I don't have periods any more, no more pads and blood on my sheets etc. I do take a multivitamin, extra iron and fish oil caps every day. Also try and eat well and keep the bowels working with a daily dose of psyllium in an orange drink. Also I walk every day for at least 30 minutes. My doctor seemed to think everything was OK at my last check up. Anyway, thanks for your message - it's good to read your posts on the forum.
Cheers,
Wendy

Wendy, there are lots of things I love about this time in life. I love the settled-ness, the lack of wanting for material things, the appreciation for life in general. The few physical things that have troubled me menopause wise, I have mostly found solutions for. A couple I am still working on. I do take a few supplements and try to eat well. I came into menopause with some weakening brought on by stress, and then was laid low by a precription, so I have some catching up to do.

By the way, I notice you and Louise sign off with 'cheers'. This might seem a silly question but what does that mean when you say that? Is it something like, be happy? Kit

... is an English way of saying thanks.

Would never have guessed that! Cheers, Kit :-)
