Herbs?

Body:

I've been doing some research on herbs and prolapse and there are a few products out there that claim to help prolapse by strengthening the vaginal wall. I did a search on here and didn't find any recent posts on herbs, so I apologize if it's here and I just missed it. Has anyone tried using herbs to treat their prolapse? Any success or recommendations on what to try? Also I would need something safe for breastfeeding.
Thanks!

Hi Arunnergirl

Did you just search recent posts or did you use the search box? The search box will bring up a list of topics with herbs mentioned in its posts. It is pretty daunting sieving all the posts. Just use your browser's 'find on this page' function and it will highlight the term wherever it exists in the string. This makes trawling a lot easier, quicker and you find more stuff too.

There has been a heap of stuff posted about herbs in the past.

Cheers

Louise

My husband's natural doctor told him to tell me to try Ligaplex II by Standard Process. It's not cheap, but when I first got the prolapse I was using it. Here's some information on it...http://www.standardprocess.com/display/displayFile.aspx?docid=772&filena...

A friend of mine (a scientist in a histology field) recommended me book: “Health from God’s Garden” from Marian Treben. The page 117 says: “Uterus (prolapsed of): Drink 4 cups of lady’s mantle tea in the course of the day, sip it slowly. Massage your abdomen with shepherd’s purse tincture, starting at the vagina and working upward. Take three yarrow sitz baths every week. The water should be just enough to cover your kidneys. Stay in the bath for 20 minutes, and don’t dry yourself off when you get out; put on a robe and get straight into bed. Stay there for an hour so that you work up a good sweat.”
I started with this about 5 weeks ago. Lady’s mantle is supposed to strengthen the tissue. It’s also used in cosmetics so after about 2 weeks you can see it’s positive effect also on your skin. I buy herbs (Lady’s mantle and yarrow) and the tincture at http://presentmoment.com/.

The book quotes a Swiss herbalist: “Every pregnant woman should drink large quantities of lady’s mantle tea in the last 8 to 10 days before giving birth. If this gift of Providence were more widely known, then there would be fewer widowers, and fewer children without mothers.”; however some websites recommend to avoid drinking the lady’s mantle tea during pregnancy.
Another quotation: " Lady’s Mantle was once a widely prescribed treatment for gynecological problems. In Europe it is still used to control excessive menstrual bleeding, and to help the uterus return to its natural size after childbirth. It has also been used externally for wounds and skin irritations, as well as a compress for treating puffy eyes. It also has a role to play in easing the changes of the menopause."

I do not know if the lady’s mantle tea is safe for breastfeeding. I would be careful and ask pediatrician or a nurse, or some specialist.

It's not Nettle that is a problem in quantity it's Borage. I just craved Borage tea when I was nursing.
Wish I had the time to back this up with something definitive. But I am sure it was Borage that one
shouldn't overdo. Off to have quality son time. ah he's a good one. I'm Surely the luckiest of Moms.

AnnaF, I would love to know what you find from your experience with Lady's Mantle and Yarrow.

Zelda, I just had me some quality kiddy time (though the kiddies are grown). Lovely stuff. I hope you both enjoy.

Hi annaf,
I had just started doing research on yarrow and Swedish Bitters myself and just drank my first cup of yarrow tea last night and it did seem to have a very positive effect on my POP. I haven't done the sitz baths yet but will be doing them. Swedish Bitters are another thing that many of you may want to check into. They are another thing that seems to be almost too good to be true but then I would have never thought that "oil pulling" would get rid of the plaque on my teeth and keep it off and do so many other things too.

I am feeling so much better now than I did 6 months ago when I first found this WW site. I owe most of it to the WW posture but I am also taking better care of my whole body, from the food I eat to what I put on my skin. We are living in a very toxic world and I believe we should do all that we can to help our bodies live as toxic free as possible.
