Another diagnoses and even more questions!

Body:

I don’t know if you’re read my previous posts but first I was diagnosed by my doctor with a virginal cyst. I went to the hospital where the gyno said it was in fact a bladder prolapse. I went back to my doctor who looked again and said she still thought it was a cyst but started to doubt herself, so she suggested I have a ultascan, when I did first time nothing could be found everything looked normal, then they asked me to be rescanned again to be sure, went back still nothing could be found.
So I wanted another option.

And I got, went to the hospital a different one this time, which ended with legs open and 4 people in the room (worse than giving birth). But it was all worth in when two doctors’s said it was differently a cyst, which I will need a small operation to remove. But then guess what they hit me some more bad news MY CERVIX IS LOW.

He says it is not quite a stage 1 and as I have physiotherapy booked to do that and concentrate on my pelvic floors.

So a couple of questions, first as it is not quite a stage 1 do you think it could be improved or reversed at all? And will this get worse if I have any more children, which I do really want?

Also with the cyst they told me they can drain it or what they want to do is cut it out, I asked if this could help cause a further prolapse as there is a weakness but the doctor said it will just be the skin of my vigina and not go into the mussels so this wouldn’t effect it. But im not sure I fully trust doctors now!

Also I have stopped exercising when I thought I had the bladder prolapse but I’ve put quite a bit of weight on (along with over eating out of depression about it all) But I really want to get my act together, does anyone know any exercise videos that I could do? As I cant go to a gym and need something to follow. (I’m in the UK by the way)

Hi London. None of us should trust doctors without question. There are lots of different types of scans available. There must be one that can tell a cyst from a cystocele. They must be able to palpate it in a proper pelvic exam, with you standing and lying down, and be able to feel the bladder in both positions and be able to feel the cyst as well, if indeed it exists.

I wouldn't be letting anybody cut me open if they didn't know whether they were removing a cyst or not! This is your vagina they are talking about. If it is a cystocele then normal rules apply. Posture and other WW techniques. Neither will kill you.

A cyst may push your organs around and maybe damage the fascia supporting them in the longer term, or maybe that is the problem now. Operating on your vagina will compromise the structure of your vagina more, and maybe cause a cystocele further up. If it is a cyst, can they drain it? Why cut it out?

And I wouldn't be too worried about the lowering of your cervix. I don't think there is a woman alive who has given birth vaginally whose cervix is in virgin position.

What do they mean by Stage 1. Is it prolapsed a little or a lot? You need to understand their terminology. Just ask. Have a feel yourself so you can relate to it.

Cheers

Louise

I think that it is a cyst now, the two doctors at the last appointment, along with my doctor all said it is a cyst. The fist gyno to be honest didn’t give me a good feeling and I don’t think he looked properly enough.

They say stage 1 is half way don’t your vagina, he says mine is not even down that far. I’ve been feeling it and I would say when standing is just above my index finger.

When this cyst got bigger I started getting back lower back pain, I’m now thinking that this cyst could be doing the damage.

I am scared that cutting it out will make things worse, but they seem to think it wont. They say if they drain it there’s a chance it could come back. But I’m thinking I would be more prepared to take that chance.

Also the waiting list is 12 weeks and the appointment hasn’t even come though yet, I’m worried that the wait could make things even worse.

Dear London,

If you feel comfortable with you doctors, please try to take gentle care of yourself while waiting for your appointments and then abide by their best judgments. Treating disease is where our doctors truly shine and we need to trust their education and experience. Vaginal and other pelvic cysts are not unheard of and therefore all women with prolapse need to obtain a professional diagnosis. I wouldn't worry about the wait, for if your doctors felt the cyst was serious they would've admitted you more quickly.

Wishing you well!

Christine

any day- if it comes back- drain it again.....I wonder what it is- and what causes it? Hey if you don't have prolapse or if your cervix is only a little low- start the posture NOW- you will be good to go.

Sorry I have only replyed, I decided to just wait and have the surgery, but asked for it to be drained over removed.

But to day got a letter telling me have "a small cystocele 1st degree prolaspe with no rectocele." along with a "right paravaginal cyst" How can they tell me I don't have a Bladder prolase and then a month later send me this.
I was coming to terms with it and now feel like I have to start again, I just cant stop crying. Why don't these doctors know what there doing??

It isn't a death sentence- and while you learned a hard lesson (they don't know everything and don't communicate well some of the time) you won't ever have to learn it again (well unless you discover a rectocele on your own that they missed). Prolapse is totally manageable. Order the book and start learning. Grieve as much as you need to. Know that all of us members (some 2,000) also have prolapse and you are not alone at all.

Thank you Alemema, I know its not, and I think everyone on here is just so amazing. I just wanted to know exactly w hat is wrong with me, I finally thought I found a Doctor I could trust. Now I know this one differently doesn’t know what he’s doing. After about a million phone calls someone finally got back to me, I’m just so mad now. Apparently what they wrote in the letter was a MISTAKE, how can they possible write to someone and tell them one organ is falling out when its not that one.
