sea sponges

Body:

Would like to try sea sponges instead of pessary. Aside from Fem-care Products where can I buy these and are there different sizes. How do you determine size and how do you remove them, is there a string. Is there a chance that little bits could break off and remain inside the vagina. I am menopausal and have extreme vaginal dryness, so how can I put sea sponge in, what kind of lubrication would I use. Also, are sea sponges irritating because I have bladder, rectum and uterus prolapse and feel pelvic burning throughout the day(Dr. says its from lack of estrogen) He also prescribed Estrace vaginal cream for that haven't used it yet, I have appt. with Homeopath Dr. for workup to get transdermal hormone cream. Can both be used at same time, as I am not sure how long it takes for vaginal dryness to be cured using transdermal cream, and I am in daily pain. I am using the Pessary almost everyday and taking it out every 1-2 days, am satisfied with it but I do get the burning in pelvis as well as down inner thigh, so am thinking maybe sea sponge would be better. Any advise re: hormones, sea sponges or pessary use would be appreciated, as I do not want to have surgery.

Welcome KE, and thanks much for writing.

The sea sponge is available at most health food stores. They usually come two to a pkg. The size issue is basically a guess (I bought the largest the store had) and no, they don
