Thanksgiving

Body:

To all my friends who celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, or who celebrate some sort of harvest festival at this time of the year, I hope you all have a wonderful day. We do have so much to give thanks for, even when we feel hard done by. Thank you to all of you who have blessed my life this year.

Down here in Oz the grain harvest is in full swing after quite a good year. We will be giving thanks for the grain harvest at Christmas time, when it is all off and safely in storage. There are still a lot of risks for farmers until then, whether it is thunderstorms which can bring hail that can flatten crops, lightning which can start fires in crops and elsewhere, and rain that can stain or sprout grain while still in the head, which devalues it.

Traditionally in Oz school finishes for the year just before Christmas and the kids have a seven week holiday break before the new school year starts at the beginning of February. I still cannot figure out the whole White Christmas thing, and rugging up against the cold. You northerners must think I am some kind of loonie. Yeah, well, you're probably right.

Cheers

Louise

How sweet of you, Louise. I too, wish everyone a lovely holiday and feel so grateful that we all have each other.

I saw some footage a while back of bikini-clad Ozzies playing volleyball on the beach at Christmas - Santa hats and all! I often think about how different your life must be down under. It is strikingly beautiful country, but I can only imagine what farmers must wrestle with in that ancient land.

Prayers for a beautiful day!

Christine
