Open Letter

Body:

Hi Everyone,

I want to direct you again to the Open Letter to the American Physical Therapy Association.

There is a link at the end of the letter to a short video demonstrating the importance of correct pelvic anatomy.

Christine

Hi Christine. Well done. The video enhances the letter well. Now what happens? How will the American PT Association receive this letter? How will they know to read it?

Louise

WoW! I read the letter and watched the video. The letter was full of big words about body parts I know I have, but I don't refer to them in medical terms. The video, on the other hand, was very helpful, because it showed me what I could not grasp from the medical words. I can always use help with the posture because I am still 'falling out.' That being said, I am feeling my muscles being a little less wimpy. Thanks Christine for more education!

Valid point Meribelle

We all learn in different ways, either by demonstration, by verbal description and by doing it and learning as we go. There are probably other ways as well.

Glad you found it helpful. I will put a link to the letter in our FAQs. We will also float it out in cyber-space like the kegels article. APTA would probably not care to receive the information, although I would’ve contacted them directly if they had an email address. A slow-moving bureaucracy, I suspect.

Christine, I am not sure what 'open letter ' means, but I would have thought it would mean that you would be expecting them to respond.
I think they have a right to be sent a copy direct; otherwise it could be seen as going behind their back to criticise them, which could be construed as a cowardly attack.

*And* they could legitimately ignore it if they have not been sent a personal copy. If they choose to ignore a personal copy, then that is not very good manners, and it does leave them open to criticism by others who can see the sense in the open letter, and are waiting to see their response.

I would think that sending them a copy would be an upfront challenge to them to respond, as well as a gesture of goodwill. How about burning itt onto a DVD and posting it to their address, listed on their website at http://www.apta.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Contact_Us ?

Then we will see what they are made of.
