First Aid for Prolapse

Body:

Hello All,
I am only new to posting and initially I think I posted this message in the wrong place. Please forgive me but I am anxious for some advice.

I am an active 60 year old and a few months ago was diagnosed with a stage 2 cystocele prolapse (luckily no leaking thank goodness). Recently the bulging has become more pronounced which really bothers me because it hinders my activity. My whole focus lately seems to be on "the bulge". In the past I have seen doctor & physio but it didn't take long for me to realise Kegel's were not working and a waste of my time. I'm not going down the surgical path as advised by them.

Recently I took delivery of my First Aid for Prolapse DVD and I am only doing the first stage 1 and 2 exercises until I am proficient enough to move onto the next stage. I am wondering if anyone could tell me how often I should do these exercises and also do I go through stage 1 and 2 once, a couple of times or more in a session? I feel a bit silly asking this but if I don't ask, I won't know and I don't want to overdo it or not be doing enough to enable me to move through to the next stage exercises.

Thank you Christine for this wonderful Whole Woman website.

Glad you are here.
Here's my take on the dvd and how to go about it.
1. Use your body as your guide. A bit of soreness is good, it means you are growing stronger. If you are not feeling any soreness go ahead and bring yourself a little deeper in.
2. Use your body as your guide :) if you feel your prolapse symptoms are improving, you are one of the lucky ducks that get results early. If no improvement is noticed, keep working. You will get there (it could take a good long time- no rush here).
3. Use your body as your guide. If you feel tired, worn out- rest. If you worked out in the morning and in the evening you feel full of energy- work out again! It won't hurt you if you are up for it.

also, don't be afraid to move into the next phase of exercises. Just do what you can and 'watch' the rest. This will help you learn the moves and that understanding is very helpful when working on a new program.
Last thing, muscle memory. Your body will remember these movements you are asking of it- and over time (maybe 6 weeks) it will start to become easy as pie!

Alemama,
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my questions I really appreciate it and you have given my confidence a much needed boost.
Even though I have always kept myself very fit and active I have always approached my fitness as a mind thing (mind over matter) only and never really thought about mind and body attuned to each other. Working in this new way and listening to my breathing for instance is very relaxing and I feel far more motivated to continue to be in control of my prolapse instead of the other way around.
