great user names

Body:

perhaps there could be a star award for the most original user name. I see there is a new member called Adroopygirl and another called saggyvaggy. I can relate to that. welcome aboard.

Hello all,
I recently found this website while doing a search on cystocele repair. I am a surgical nurse and recently had my cystocele bulge worsen with exercise.
I talked to many women in person and had a gyn consultation. An attempt was made to fit me with a pessary but I did not take to that option. One fell out and the other created a burning sensation and some mild abdominal discomfort.
A younger nurse friend suggested that I keep the area moistened with KY jelly which I do and this seems to help with the irritation sensation.
I was really considering surgery until I found this website. Even though I work in surgery I was very upset to even have to consider this option.
I also noticed a reluctance of the GYN nurses and physicians to suggest surgery as an option so this spoke VOLUMES about the efficacy of the procedure.
WoW! who would have thought that such an important, relative and common problem is not in the forefront of women's health!!!!! I guess it is too sensitive a topic for most women to talk about publically. Are there any support groups for women with cystocele problems or post surgical problems?
Thanks for all who share on this website.

Hello and welcome, Adroopygirl,

I am so glad to hear that you're still on this side of the door! Now it is up to you to affect your symptoms through posture, diet, exercise etc. etc. You will likely be amazed at your body's ability to respond to pelvic organ prolapse.

Yes, it is very difficult subject matter, as women historically did not know what to do to improve their symptoms, and doctors (and their army of PTs) had all the answers. Arnold Kegel, MD, gave us kegels in the 1950s and that's about where the situation stayed until WW.

There are many other prolapse and post-surgery sites - hystersisters being the largest.

Wishing you well,

Christine
