Soreness and inflammation

Body:

Greetings everyone,

I do apologise if this subject matter has been covered before, but I have searched and not found anything quite matching my experience. I currently have a very sore and irritable POP. My cervix is low although not protruding, and I can feel it there, feeling very sore and irritated, almost 'metallic', a piercing sort of soreness that occasionally flips into quite intensely sharp pain. Nothing so bad that paracetamol won't sort it out though. My whole abdomen seems inflamed and sore, and I am peeing like mad constantly, when I need to go it's really sore and uncomfortable. Not stingy or painful when I go, however, so not really like cystitis. This is making me worried and grumpy and stopping me doing things I want to do. Normally my POP is fine, doesn't trouble me much. It got a bit worse a couple of weeks ago when I had a bad cough, despite following Louise's anti-coughing guidance. Just when I thought it was on its way back up again, this happened.

Any ideas anyone? I'm otherwise well. In terms of my POP, I have a bit of everything...

Hi Octaviel

I find that sometimes my body just gets out of balance. Irritable bladder that is not menstrually related and not a UTI has to be caused by something. At times like this a month long course of good quality probiotic by mouth cleans up lots of things. Getting some good microflora into your body will allow your body to clean itself up. I think it is often to do with pH balance. You may never actually find the initial cause. No new lovers on the scene? ;-)

If that doesn't work within a couple of weeks then you can look further, but at least you are then starting from a steady base.

Louise

Octaviel,
Misery loves company! I have something similar.
I have a ten-year old prolapsed vaginal vault and a cystocele which has "progressed" since November. I got back from a holiday South swimming in the sea (polluted?) with what I thought was a bladder infection, but nothing showed up in two sets of blood tests and urine tests. I went back on my local estrogen pills twice a week and after a lot of cranberry juice, it slowly cleared up.
Now the sore inflamed burning feeling near my urethra and in my vagina has returned. A warm bath eases that pain which you described so well. (Thanks!)
I did laps this morning in the pool and went on a hour long walk with friends & felt fine, but this evening I am a misery.
I believe that bladder (Well, my friend keeps telling me!) infections can be very dangerous if they go untreated, so I might whine to my GP again for more tests. I am having no trouble holding my urine (pee!)
I am waiting for a referral to see a uro-gynecologist because I am post complete hysterectomy. My prognosis is different from yours but we are friends in misery!
