When I first “cracked the code” on stabilizing and reversing prolapse, and wrote and published Saving the Whole Woman, I set up this forum. While I had finally gotten my own severe uterine prolapse under control with the knowledge I had gained, I didn’t actually know if I could teach other women to do for themselves what I had done for my condition.
So I just started teaching women on this forum. Within weeks, the women started writing back, “It’s working! I can feel the difference!”
From that moment on, the forum became the hub of the Whole Woman Community. Unfortunately, spammers also discovered the forum, along with the thousands of women we had been helping. The level of spamming became so intolerable and time-consuming, we regretfully took the forum down.
Technology never sleeps, however, and we have better tools today for controlling spam than we did just a few years ago. So I am very excited and pleased to bring the forum back online.

Remember, the forum is here for two reasons. First, to get your questions answered by other women who have knowledge and experience to share. Second, it is the place to share your results and successes. Your stories will help other women learn that Whole Woman is what they need.
Whether you’re an old friend or a new acquaintance, welcome! The Whole Woman forum is a place where you can make a difference in your own life and the lives of thousands of women around the world!

deep breath, Octaviel..
...it is *highly* unlikely you have a fistula. The ones who are prone to fistula later in life are those who have had posterior colporrhaphy ("posterior repair"). If you had "simple" episiotomies that did not extend into the anus you are probably just fine. The walls of the vagina and rectum never become thin enough to fistulate unless they are worn that way through pessaries and surgeries. Fistula is never a normal part of aging.
I get this too when I am propped up on pillows reading in bed. I have un-daintily called it in the past, wind flapping through the labia. It does indeed feel like it's coming from the vagina, but I assure you it is not. Please notice that you never experience this when sitting up into WW posture. This is because your vaginal walls are clamped down hard against intraabdominal pressure.
Take a deep breath and observe whether or not this is true.

To Octaviel
I wouldn't worry as i am sure we would not be alive without wind. It's sometimes what you eat too. It's better to have some wind than some dangerous surgery. If you want just check with a woman doctor.I've had all sorts of things happen and i now ignore it as it's part of being alive.I would love to go to the conference but i have commitments at the moment.I hope you let me know what happens at the conference when it's over.

being alive...
Cleo, I really like your statement that you ignore lots of things as you treat them as part of being alive. I wish I will get to this stage somehow...
I see that when I am distracted, also when I sleep I have no or less prominent symptoms...

Discovered the secret
Ivonush, I think you have just stated a very important truth....Now, do it! Distract yourself! Stay busy and don't let your life revolve around your prolapse and your itching. And don't worry so much about the splinting. If it helps get things out with less straining, do it; if you washed your hands then there isn't much chance that you are introducing anything that aggravates the itching. Just relax and get on with life!

Trying my best :)
Thanks, I am trying my best! :)
I am back with splinting. As Louise said I will find the best time, I wanted to speed up my recovery, but it is not possible, this process requires lots of patience and persistence...
I still get into this panic mode, unfortunately, and then symptoms "get bigger"... I am still unsure if something more serious is happening. I am a bit tired of everyday symptoms...This itching/burning/tingly feeling is strange as it is so deep in my vagina, I guess it is close to my uterus, at least I imagine it like this and I don't understand this feeling, it is very irritating...and it drains me...but it goes away at night, so it cannot be anything so serious...
Yes, I AM ALIVE, I am more alive as I used to be some time ago...generally lots is happening, not just in relation to health...

"I am still unsure if something more serious is happening." You are 'feeling' unsure. The associated 'thought' seems to be "I think something more serious is causing this". Is this a rational statement? Haven't you had all the tests and they came up negative? What do you do with an irrational statement? State why it is irrational and rephrase it so it becomes a rational statement.
*If this was me* the rational statement would probably be something like "I have had all the tests for more serious conditions and they came up negative. Therefore I do not have anything more serious. "
Now you do it, and come up with your own response.

when will you see the doc?
Curious as to how you are doing now?
You know, why not check it out? mirror, flashlight, speculum? take a look. I imagine you would be able to see a fistula!

Fistula post update
Hi all,
Many thanks and love for your comments especially your wise and knowledgeable words Christine.
I have thought carefully and observed what Christine describes and this may well be the case. It is certainly a sensation that I have had before, so that makes me think, well I cannot have had an undiagnosed fistula for years and years... It is true that different positions make the sensation less likely to occur, eg WW posture or sitting on the toilet (in my version of LoPo!) It is also definitely the case that no faecal matter is leaking through. I have had loose stools recently due probably to a bug and there has been absolutely nothing. I must admit I would have expected a leakage if there had been a fistula.
The doctor I went to obviously thought I was being very silly. She was struggling not to display her amusement at these 'highly unusual symptoms', which was disconcerting. She described it as a 'surgical problem' and said she would refer me to a surgeon, but when I said I'd rather see a gynaecologist she admitted maybe that would be best... She seemed to have very little idea about what to do with me.
Well it will hopefully be the case that I don't need to follow up the referral at all if I can convince myself all is relatively well. Perhaps this bowel bug is messing things up down there... maybe I just need to wait a while and observe.
I too appreciated the comment about signs of being alive... so often I am helped emotionally in an unexpected and wonderful way by the women on this forum. Thank you all so much.
I will pop back soon and let you know of any progress or further observations.

Octaviel i get it too!!!
Hi Octaviel, sorry to chime in so late here. Your discription of wind coming from the bowel which feels like it's also coming from the vagina is exactly that. It just feels that way and i get it too. I have never thought anything of it and totally agree with Christine's explanation of it.
