Chest pain when in WW posture

I sometimes get a pain in my chest when I pull up into posture. I have had the pain since my first baby when I use to do certain exercises at the gym - I thought it was related to breast feeding but the doctor said it wasn't. It feels muscular which was what she suspected. Anyway, sometimes when I really pull up my chest, and particular when I am doing whole woman yoga, it is quite painful. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if I should just push through?

I have some pain in the joint spaces of my sternum- but it mostly happens if I'm curled in, holding the baby- then when I open back up, it will hurt big time.
I don't think pushing through it is always the best choice- if it's muscular you may be able to nurture it back to health and that would probably be the way to go.

Thanks alemama. It definitely is from the sternum then off to the right. I don't think it's muscular because I have never found stretching helps and it is a different type of pain - I am not very knowledgable about the body but it feels like its whatever joins the muscles to the sternum (if that makes sense).
