Another Newbie

Body:

WOohoo.....ain't it great. I think I've had this condition for quite some time without realizing. Too bad more of us didn't talk about these things more openly BEFORE we have problem. In the same breath I didn't even know this condition existed until it hit me.
I have seen my family Dr on the 21st of this month and he confirmed my suspicions. Refered me to my gynocologist and told me not to let this limit me. Carry on, "Lots of women live with this" (I'm thinking WHUUUT??)

I do not want a hysterectomy if I can possibly help it. (which is what he is saying I need now)

I was not and am not comfortable with his advice. I am scared of what I should and shouldn't do. I don't want to aggravate this any further ya know?

I have ordered the book and the First Aid for Prolapse DVD.

I am absolutely ecstatic to have found this site!!!! YEYEY (happy dancing)

PLEASE bring on any info/advice that you can give me.

Sometime I feel like standing on my head to see if things will fall back into place...haha

Anyway, thanks in advance

Nancy

Wow. Live with it, or have a hysterectomy? Those are the choices, according to your doctor? Funny!

Anyway, welcome to the site. You’ll love the book and DVD; they were life-changing for me, and I’m in my third year with this work. Adopt the posture right now; it’s described in the FAQ’s above. Other than that, just peruse the forum (you can put search terms in to look for topics), check out the whole site, and especially watch the first video on the video page (go to Resources) if you haven’t already. You have found a goldmine here. - Surviving

Yes I do believe your right about that, and thank you for the welcome. I can't get enough info fast enough, I'm sure you understand.
I feel as though my whole life has directed me to this!
Keeping the posture in mind at all times, do the first aid excersises everyday since finding them (just the intro tho) and am glued to the computor 20/7!

I want to be part of this!!

That's like me.....Miraculously I found this site, and it took me about 10 seconds to realize this was the one and only way to go. - Surviving

What a strange comment for your doc to make. That you ''can live with it, as lots of women do so'' OR ''that you need a hysterectomy'' ! Surely, if you can live with it, then WHY would you need a hysterectomy? That's major surgery :(

Did you question him about this?

I discovered my ''bulge'' just under 2 wks ago. Have appt. with gyn Sep. 21 for a formal diagnosis. Certainly don't want ANY kind of surgery and not sure re pessaries, although so far I've heard more bad than good about those. Every woman is different and reacts differently. I want to follow the posture procedures indicated here, but I just want to know exactly what kind of prolapse I have.

There are self-examination instructions in Saving The Whole Woman. Just get an anatomy diagram, and put a finger in and have a feel, half-lying down. Get to know your own vulva and vagina. Then you can visualise what you are feeling. Then do the same thing standing up. I am sure you will figure out what is happening.

The good thing about doing it yourself is that you can have a feel whenever you think you want to know what that weird sensation is and where it is coming from. You will probably find that it changes over the day, and over the month, and according to how much heavy physical work you are doing.

I'm finding that as I get older and things are changing that my family Dr is not helping me much. I think I may intimidate him somewhat because I do a lot of studying before going to see him. I just don't think he knows of any other approach. I pretty much had to tell him to get my blood work done to measure my hormones for changes. He told me that won't tell me much. I've just proudly turned 50, and have noticed some things that point towards menopause.
As for what kind? I'm not sure, but I suspect bladder. Will hopefully find out more from my visit with my gyno (when ever that is). My bulge is on the right front and does get more pronounced the harder I work.
I do not think the I'm interested in a pessary either, just doesn't seem like something I want to mess with at all!
I had the Merina IUD put in back in May of this year for heavy cycles, and am starting to wonder if this might be part of the problem. I've had a total of 10 days discharge free and this morning have full period symptoms. Anyone else have thoughts on this one?
So here I am, and sponge like in form. Bring on the info! LOL

Thanks for reading!

Sounds like a garden-variety cystocele to me. I have never had a diagnosis myself, but I know from Christine's work that what I have it cystocele and rectocele (what she calls "nature's pessary" because this helps keep the uterus from falling too low). Keep soaking it up, your doc will get an earful!! - Surviving

Hi Louiseds,

Thank for your reply and advice.

I have ''tried'' looking at it while standing with a mirror. And tried comparing with various pictures I've seen online. I get freaked out :( I suspect it's a cystocele, or maybe a combination of cystocele with rectocele. Soon as I'm ''formally'' diagnosed will post here. Not looking forward to going to the gyn. Especially if she may want to do something I may not want to do. Oh well. I've been in situations like that before. I suspect my condition is ''mild''. We'll see what happens.

Thanks so much for replying.

Just a warning, the doc may ask you to bear down. I do not recommend doing this. I've seen women here talk about having set backs related to doing this at the docs office.
This is your body. You can go to the doc for information about your body, but that does not mean you are not the boss.
Good luck!

Very good point, thanks for this~
