Pessaries

Body:

Has anyone heard of a pessary called IncoStress?

It is a synthetic pessary that you can insert like a tampon. It is reuseable.

Its made by a company in the UK called C&G Medicare ltd.

I just got mine today and will let you know what I think of it.

Yes - They gave one to us to test (I was the tester) a few years ago. Because of POP it left like moments after it was put in.... It is very smooth so unlike a regular tampon it kinda slides...

I hope it helps you though... I did think that if it were thinner and used sideways like sideways tampon (like this (|||||||||) way) That maybe it could act like a shelf - But I have never tested that theory.

Hafta say I thought it was very expensive for a bit of silicone :(
Good luck!

It seems to want to come out whilst I sit........could I be sitting wrong? hhhhmmmmmmm

Just adding to keep your eye on the incostress, Prolapse2012. A pessary that holds the vaginal walls open will allow intraabdominal pressure to squeeze neighboring organs into the vaginal space. This seems to be the case primarily with the rectum. You may have resorted to the pessary to relieve a prolapsed bladder, but in the final analysis, it may create or worsen a rectocele. Many of us have experienced this.

What about "pfilates" pelvic floor pilates.......any thoughts about this dvd?

Also. Incostress is very large. Some women use a tampon as a pessary - Which is like a tinyversion of Incostress (kinda sorta) But the tampon is soft and squidgy in time and would squidge - The Incostress however is not a mouldable product. Yes it slips out - That is what I found it did, I gave up on it after a matter of minutes, luckily they had sent us it free as a tester or I would have been a tad peeved at spending that sort of money for a matter of moments.

If I were looking into pessaries that are mouldable, I would use a tampon sideways o the sponges, both of which at least stay in - And stay put for longer than a minute LOL

As Christine said - Something like Incostresswould hold the vaginal walls apart (way apart when you think about the size of Incostress) I have tried a few pessary methods in the past, and found that onlythe tampon sideways (Like a shelf) and the sponges - Which you can trim to size for comfort etc - Those two were the only ones that actually helped me.

I had a ring pessary for 18hrs, which I rally didn't get along with (Tho I am sure my DR gave me the wrong size and I couldn't wait to get the thing out) I have used sponges in the past which were great, I just trimmed hem to size and they gave me a feeling of security and comfort, I've used tampons at times, and that Incostress thing for that 20mins of testing. But - Now, years after the fact - I still use tampons at that time of the month, but I don't feel the need to have to rely on anything all the time.

I would say if you feel the need at this time for something that will make you feel supported, I would go for the sponges, some women on here mentioned a sports tampon though I have no idea how that differs from just a small normal tampon. In time - You will not be reliant upon these as your body will start becoming self-reliant and things will be OK again... :-)

I have never geard of Pfilates? It just comes over (that word) to me that theyare gonna sell people a DVD of pelvic floor exercises they say will work - Remember - People will sell you anythign to make themselves money, and alot of their words are not always correct. The women here have tested many ways, and there is a mine of information here to be gathered :-)

Good Luck
