If you are tired is it okay to lay on your side with your spine in ww position, I also put my leggs up a little? I have been having very hard days with my neck and my prolapse lately. Not sure why? I had a hard time emptying my bladder at work today do not know why......but when I got home I took off my pants and relaxed and out everything came. I try to relax and deep breath into my stomach and usually that works pretty good but today it did not.
When I get tired which is a lot.......I want to know it is okay to lay on my side. I do not want to make my prolapse worse or could I have done that. s

Yes, I remember the tiredness. I don’t know what brings that on, but rest is all you can do in that situation. It’s not just due to being in a new, unfamiliar posture. The tiredness does eventually get better with the prolapse. Things for you are difficult in that you also have the neck problem, and it would be hard to determine what is causing what. And just a tinge of feeling helpless in the situation of course can make your mind wish to withdraw. You seem to be like me in that things all come at once.

With the tiredness, I just gave into it eventually and then in turn got impatient with it and tried to distract myself. Just another half hour, then another. I always envied my husband in this regard in that he could close his eyes and go off to sleep for ten minutes on the sofa and then wake up and ask what had he missed. I, on the other hand, have to go to bed and then spend at least 30 minutes; the full production.

Sleeping, because you no longer have the weight of gravity on your upright body can be done in whatever is your most favoured position. On your side with legs up is fine. Trying to do so in posture is probably even better.

As for the difficulty in urination, this too sometimes happens for seemingly no good reason. Suggestions range from trying to forget about it, and it will eventually come, to staying in the toilet cubicle and moving around a bit (bending at the hips) and then returning to the bowl. I personally prefer the latter technique, but it is not always feasible when you are at work. I have been asked by a rather strange male manager why I took so long! So then to be cautious you may want to wear a panty liner, not because you may become incontinent, but just to give yourself that psychological security.

You might try re-reading Christine's Self-care chapter P119.

Yes, relaxation is primary, and Ms Nightingale talks about the soft tummy and you yourself the deep breathing, but that’s what stress is about isn’t it, it’s not always easy to allay it.

Best wishes, Fab

Thanks fab. I will reread the chapter, I will try this weekend. I get very tired and want to lay down and just watch TV and rest. I think the pain is very draining all so. I have been sleeping lately and I am sometimes more tired when I sleep. ( I am not a good sleeper on top of everything else) The last 2 nights I have slept.

Well I reread that chapter. Got in the tub and let loose. It really helped. I think I am still not emptying (before today). So I am going to try and get in the tub 2 times a day if I can.

Mika, certainly worth going back. When you first read the book, there is so much information there, that it does help to come back for small bites.
