Newby, prolapse?

Body:

Hi I'm new here and have been lucky enough to find this site :)
I'm looking for advice really. My history is as follows: aged 34, 4 children, 3 natural delivery, 1 c section.
Basically I have noticed before my last baby ( now 18 months) that things were starting to "sag" inside. Sometimes feeling like a tampon was stuck in the vagina? Anyways, following my c section I feel things have actually got worse. I now sometimes have to "splint" with a hard to pass bowel movement, and can feel the "bulge" against the vaginal wall. I also suffer from stress incontinence, but not all the time. Also when in bearing down for bm I feel as if my organs are pushing down! The most recent (and distressing ) symptom im experiencing is when I pass wind ( sorry tmi) it actually feels as I'd it's coming out my vagina!
Please advise as I'm worried something is really wrong!
I also have problems with haemorrhoids/ fissure. I've been to g
Doc re symptoms however she just said she wouldn't be happy to "let a surgeon near me" at this stage.
Thank you in advance!

Welcome mary1'
Thank goodness your md does not recommend surgery....it doesn't have great success rates.
I don't have as much experience with rectocele ( that sounds like what you may have), but I know what you mean when you talk about passing wind. I felt that too when my symptoms were at their worst. A year into WW posture and exercises I no longer have that problem.
4 births can take its toll, combined with the classic pulling our tummy in and tucking out butt.
You are young ( I am 44 btw), so if you immerse yourself in this and make some changes you can improve this dramatically. You have to stop bearing down for a bm though, that will only continue to make things worse, easy elimination is something to get under control, and that will help your symptoms. Do lots do research here there are plenty of posts. Start by searching elimination and see what comes up. Learn the posture, check out the FAQ, and invest in the first aid for prolapse DVD if it is possible, the book is really useful too.
Hope this helps

Hi Mary and welcome. It sounds like you could have cystocele and rectocele, which is a very common combination. The good news is that these ‘celes together tend to keep support in place to prevent the cervix from falling too far into the vaginal space – what Christine calls “nature’s pessary”. I have this condition, as do many others. ‘Celes are quite manageable with Whole Woman work. I have been doing this for 2-1/2 years, and truly wish I had made this posture correction at your young age.

The idea is to restore lumbar curvature which is the true basis for pelvic organ support. You learn to stand and move with a relaxed lower belly and pulled-up chest, so the organs can return to their proper position behind the lower abdominal wall, instead of squishing into the vagina. The round ligaments of the uterus help to pull everything forward. If you have been taught (as most of us have) that “good” posture means sucking in your tummy and tucking your butt under, well, time to stop doing that, right away! Whole Woman posture feels wonderful and will help ensure good spine and hip health as you age.

If you have not already, please go to the Resources tab, then to Video, and watch the first video on the page in which Christine explains why surgery isn’t the answer, how we lost this wonderful and protective posture, and how we can get it back again. Please consider acquiring one or more items from her substantial body of work. I’d start with the book and/or basic First Aid DVD. They have been life-changing for me. This is not a quick fix. It is a way to get on with your life without fear and without limitations. Good luck to you! - Surviving
