Good posture feels natural and comfortable...

Body:

I must admit when I was first trying the posture, I did not believe that in time it would be comfortable to me; that it would feel natural. My husband and I drove 21/2 hours to the Columbus Ohio Temple today and I really tried to stay in posture on the way there, and I felt great. On the way back I was tired and had terrible posture sitting in those bucket seats. After a while of sitting like that I straightened up again, and actually felt pain in my lower back! :) Let me explain why this pain was good; I felt pain for the first time sitting in a position (bad posture) that has never given me pain before! I can sense that my lumbar curve is more 'curvey' and my bones were actually protesting against the bad posture! And I realized today, it actually feels really good to sit and stand up straight. This is not always true but its getting there!

Forum:

It certainly is strange, feeling a sensation that you haven't felt before! Things are changing. Good! :-)

I suggest that you get a foam wedge and cut it to fit the dip in your car seat, so that you can sit on an horizontal base in the car. A small lumbar cushion will help hold your lumbar curve. Even a water or air filled hot water bottle will do, adjusted by you to the right fullness.

Bravo oceangirl and thanks so much for sharing this. It is so gratifying when members actually start to see the change in posture happening. It can take awhile, and the fact is, however long it takes for the posture to start clicking, that is only just the beginning of the changes that you will feel. I wish that every prolapsed woman who finds her way here, would just throw her whole mind and body into this endeavor and give it the time that it requires.

After 3 years I still have my moments where I just must slouch for awhile. After 3 years I still get lazy about back support when I am driving. When these things happen, I do feel what you describe. It's like I'm making my body do something it knows is wrong!

I'm still seeing improvements in the degree of restoration of lumbar curvature. I didn't start this work until age 60 so I don't know how much more I can get, but I know that if I clean up those remaining bad habits I will get more. The stabilization of my 'celes has almost become secondary to my obsession with how good my spine and hips feel. I am surrounded by people who have hip issues and I am determined never to be one of them.

Keep it up, girl! Postings from newer members who are still figuring this out have so much impact on these forums. You are making a great contribution here. - Surviving

It is a pleasure to share positive info! I am amazed how simply one's attitude can make a monumental difference in overall health and relationships with others. It is exactly how stress effects our prolapse; our emotions mean so much!

Just joining in to agree with everyone. After about 2 years of doing this owrk now, I can honestly say the WW posture feels more natural to me than anything else now - and both mentally and physically I don't like being in poor posture.
