Breathing and The Bulge

Body:

Doing my exercises today, just standing in posture and feeling my breath in my body, I started to really get the connection of breath and pelvic organ placement. I felt that when I inhaled without fully relaxing my lower belly, the pressure was directed downwards and I could feel my anus bulging out. However! when I really let that belly go and inhaled, my anus didn't bulge at all. It's great to feel the WW theory in action and it motivates me even more to work on the posture. I'm definitely getting stronger in the posture because of doing the First Aid exercises - they help me to practice keeping my lower belly released while in motion, which is what feels most challenging at this point.

So true, Maman! Learning to relax the belly is so hard at first, for those of us who have been sucking it in our whole lives. Thanks for writing about this contrast in the breathing, it is such an "aha" moment when you realize how all of this works together. For me, having prolapse is worth it, how else would I have ever corrected my posture and gotten my hips and spine into correct alignment? When this posture finally clicked, I had the sense that my body was remembering something long lost and forgotten from my childhood. - Surviving
