DVD problem

Body:

Hello
I am having a problem trying to view my DVD ( first Aid) . I received my book and DVD last week but was not able to view the DVD due to visitors from the UK. I did get it to play a brief bit but I have had zero success in getting it to play using my computer since then. I know it may be a technical issue and I have played around a bit without any success.
I can play another DVD with my computer but just can't get the WW one to work. Does anyone have any ideas to try before I return it. I hate to do that as it takes so long since I am in Canada and it will take a few more weeks before I can view it.

I have the same problem. Not with the FAFP DVD funnily enough (that one plays in everything I've tested), but with the WW yoga ones. It is REALLY frustrating - I found one DVD player that they all worked in, but computers and other DVD players are a no-no. As a result I tend to just use the FAFP DVD as that's the only one that'll play on the computer. Also means I'm less likely to buy another WW yoga DVD.

Time to make it available as a digital purchase, perhaps...?

Sorry Nikko - my post didn't really help solve your problem at all. Hope you find a way to play it soon.

Thanks for the info. I am glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem.

Hi Nikko

Yes, I have had this problem too with other videos, trying to play new videos on an old DVD player. I didn't realise how old the machine was until I really thought hard. I guess you can also have an old DVD drive on your computer. I suggest that you try updating the driver software for the DVD drive before you replace the Drive. I think you might be being inappropriately critical of the DVD, when others have experienced the same problem and found it to be the Player/Drive that is the problem.

I suggest that you contact Lanny by emailing the site. Lanny is the tech man for WW. There may be differences between the way the First Aid DVD and the yoga DVD's are formatted. Lanny is your man to solve your problem. If there are problems he is the man who would like to know about them, so he can avoid them in future, and fix them to keep you a happy customer.

Online delivery of the DVD's is in the pipeline, but not in the very near future. The videos will still be available on DVD for a long time, because not everyone has the prospect of the bandwidth required for real time streaming of video, including Australia.

Louise

Thank you for the suggestions. My next step was to have a look at my software but I need the "techy support" from my 14 year old grandson to do that so will have to wait until he is available. I was not intending to be critical of the DVD with my comments but just looking for possible quick solutions that escape my non techincal mind!

Techy grandsons are very useful. :-)

You're not kidding they are. My son was about 11 when he hooked up a computer for my then recently-widowed mom. - Surviving

Hi Louise, Streaming a video wouldn't be an option I would choose anyway (I'm in Australia too, though more metropolitan than you) but I would purchase a download - that doesn't rely on bandwidth once its downloaded and then you have it forever. Something like yogadownload.com is a good model - you can choose to stream or download, and they even offer audio only at a lower rate.

(hope it's okay to mention another website in this context)

Hi Kiko, you mean like downloading mp3's? Yeah, it is another option, one that is very customer friendly. It is not very good value for the person who created it because once someone has it on their computer they can freely share it with whomever they want to, at no cost. That won't do Whole Woman any good, sales wise. The sale of these products funds Whole Woman. It might be worth shooting Lanny a line about it though. I just think DVD's will be around for a while.

Success! I finally got my DVD to work after a little bit of thought since my grandson is away for a while. Since it did work once the first time I tried to view it, it did not make sense that it might be defective.
I closed all other programs on my computer ..no luck... but cleaning the DVD and closing extra programs did and it seems to work fine now..hurray!

Yay!!

:-)
